Actually a question.  I am thinking of buying a bachmann ho f-7 loco and would like to know if I can run a loco that is a dcc model on a Dc layout.  Thanks. Tomkit22

If you have a straight DC power pack yes. If it is one with pulse power no. Also if it is sound equipped, the loco won't start to move until around 6 volts. Joe

The microprocessor on the decoder needs at least five lots to just wake up. Usually a couple volts or m so to begin moving the loco. The manuals will tell you that DC equipped locos operate on DC IF, the DC mode has not been disabled by a previous use if a used DCC on board loco.
I know the Male species do not like reading manuals so that is the difficult part of this issue.
