Bachmann 8 axle steam era tender

I have been given this tender, water I should think; can anyone give me some further info . 33 degrees C where I am right now. Cheers. Peanuts

It sounds like the tender to the Bachmann Santa Fe 4-8-4 Northern. The only water tender I know of by Bachmann in N scale is the N&W water tender for the J class but that is only a 4 axle tender.

  Most tenders, at least 95%, were for both fuel and water. A water only one added to a engine with a both fuel and water tender was a rare one except for very long runs with very little water stops in between.
  Steam engines used way more water then fuel.
Run out of fuel and you stop. Run out of water and the engine can, GO BOOM!! :o

Could it be a tender that uses fuel oil instead of coal? On a fuel oil tender the area usually occupied by the coal bunker is covered over with a (usually) flat steel deck with one or more hatches. For an example:
