At the risk is thowing water on a glowing thread:  Things change when girlfriends become wives.  Those cute trains become things that take you away from honey-do projects.  Then there is the issue of layout space traded for guest quarters or the laundry area.

Eventually we are told that "You have too many guns - you can only shoot one at a time."  "When are you getting rid of the motorcycle? - you haven't ridden it in ages."

Don't get me wrong - I wouldn't trade my wife for anything - and she tolerates my hobbies very well.  However - marriage is an ongoing series of compromises.

Happy Thanksgiving,

is it possible model railroaders are proven to be good with kids ?

Yes, unless the kids like to touch the trains.

That is why I have several trains. I have the fat finger trains and the serious trains. Different kids, different skills. the nice thing about wives is when they break a train, they encourage you to go buy another, i just have to make sure Mrs Ta152h0 can't see the grin as I am walking out the door and get to go to the train store again.
