Grass Mat

I just put put a new grass mat on my 4' X 8' plywood train platform. Because the mat has been rolled up it does not lay flat. I was expecting that. Should I put boards on it to flatten it out or should I just leave alone?

For display layouts, I've found unrolling the mat and laying it on the table grass side down for a few days gets it flat enough to make installation easier. Laying a piece of 2x4 on top if it, across the width of the table, will keep it from curling back up on itself.  Two or three days should do the trick.
