New "plug N Play" adapter for Spectrum moguls.

I have failed at every attempt to adapt RailPro to my 3 moguls. I am not a beginner and have installed dozens of RailPro's in the other brands. After installation following Bachmanns instructions, the Railpro immediately crashes and shows a warning on the hand control.
Does anyone else have this problem? What am I missing?
Thanks,
JB

so, you do not specifically mention you are using it, but you have removed the default "shorting" plug and added the Bachmann PNP adapter (I think it's in the Dash 9 parts area)?

If you have, then just wire the motor up and see what happens, just 2 wires from the RP decoder to the PNP adapter

It's not a Dash 9.
They are the new Spectrum Moguls. I have three of them.
I have tried all three methods:
1. using the existing interface.
2. Using the second interface supplied with the loco.
3 using the optional motor input on the control module in the tender.
The RP is battery operated, not track. I use dead rail.

Airwire control works just fine on these locos.
Rail Pro does not.
I am missing something.......

Don Sweet of RCS of New England routinely instals RailPro in a wide variety of Bachmann locomotives that have the interface without any issue. I believe he uses the adapter that has the wires plugged into the socket

So the question is what do you have in the socket, which wires are connected to the railpro unit, how are the switches in the locomotive set and how is your battery connected?

I'm confused...

The existing interface is a socket with a shorting plug, as far as I know...  these are new, but new models, or new old stock.

What is the second interface? the shorting plug? I'm not aware of anything else shipping with the loco, can you supply a picture?

Not sure what the control module in the tender is? There should be a socket in there with a shorting plug.

Recently Bachmann sells a PNP adapter board, and it works on ALL current sockets... originally it was only on the Bachmann site under the Dash 9 accessories... I stated that in my first reply...

Yes indeed, you are missing something, my questions are intended to help you find what that is.

Greg

The Bachmann PNP adapter board that has wires for all the pins in the socket while not included with the K27, it has been included in the box of all Bachmann locomotive with the socket since that time.

Reciently their parts department has also caried this part.

Hope this helps.

Yes it helps... did not know it was being supplied with all current production locos with the socket.

So that's one less thing for jebouck to buy...

Thanks Stan

My 2nd gen Climax, C19, K27 and 2662 all came with the pigtail board.

Greg Elmassian

Your K27 came with it? Hasn't it been out of production BEFORE the PNP adapter was even made?

Stan?

I bought it used but it was in there, I thought.   I'll have to verify now.

Greg Elmassian

Yeah, it's been out of production (K-27) for years. The first time I "saw" the PNP adapter was with the Dash 9 re-issue, but it may have existed earlier.

In any case, That's what john should start with, but he's not responded to my questions, so I cannot take him to the next step in debugging the problem.
