Mounting N scale figures

It is difficult to mount small n scale people to a grass mat. O.K. on a painted wooden board, BUT they won't stick straight up on a grass mat. I have tried 2 sided tape that dont work, plastic cement and contact cement does't work; they keep falling/leaning.  HELP>  THANKS.

You might want to ask this on the N scale forum, rather than the Large scale one. For figures of any scale, I drill a small hole up into one leg and insert a length of piano wire. Drill a matching hole at the location you want to put the figure and insert the other end of the wire. No more tipping figure.
