How do you remove the shell to get at the electronics?  What DCC decoder would go in there most easily?

Hi,

On the mid-bottom of the loco you will see 2 small Phillips head screws. Undo these and the plastic fuel tank comes off.

Once the fuel tank is off, this exposes 2 more Phillips head screws (in deep sockets) that hold the body to the frame. Remove these and you can lift the body off. You might have to wiggle the body end-to-end to get the coupler boxes past the ends off the frame.

I have used the NCE Bach DSL decoder in the B23-7 with good success. This decoder is designed as an "upgrade" for other "DCC Onboard" Bachmann diesels, but with a little creativity it works well in the "Non-DCC" B23/B30-7.

I have the CSX B30-7 with decoder installed for sale on my web site. I have included a couple pictures. I have a Conrail B23-7 w/DCC in stock also. Contact me off the board if you would like a price for an install in your loco.

Best Regards,
Steve K.
