Dear All,
Well, sort of...
They have landed ans ar in US Customs. (Looks like Bucksco was right...!)
We'll get them out as soon as they're released. At least you no longer have to worry about shipwrecks and pirates!
Anticipate!
the Bach-man
Let me be the 1st to say:
Thank You to the captain of the ship for getting it here. :)
Thanks to the pirates for leaving the ship alone, to arrive intact. ;D
And to customs for hopefully a very short hold on Bachmann's container. :-X
And last but not ..........O you no, to the Back man and company....... Thanks, You have tough me anticipation. ::)
I can rest at ease now knowing I'll have a complete, fantastic looking consist. A K27 to start it and caboose to end and complete it. ;D
Thanks ;)
Bach-man thank you for posting this information
Mike
Oh Shucks....now we will have to find something else to whine about....of course that will probably be easy..
Bob I don't understand why you had to make such a comment. Are you trying to cause trouble? people ask questions for a reason. If you had read all the questions asked about the subject maybe you would better understand why questions are asked. if you really wanted to know why so many questions were asked about the caboose maybe you should of asked the individual. This is the reason I very rarely ask questions on a public forum. Just think what a beginner is thinking about the comments you made.
Mike
Nope, not cause trouble...but just a comment after reading much discussion on the caboose...if someone feels it applies to them....perhaps there is a reason he/she feels that way. Perhaps i am whinning....but...

Uh-oh :-[ looking at my self, it is oh so easy to do that! Example using another item - am getting one of the Anniversary 4-6-0 locos: I like it, am glad to have it to get, will greatly enjoy having it; but, probably the second thing that falls out of my mouth when talking about the loco is,
"Something about that air compressor piping doesn't look right . . . " Then again, Kathy says that commentary about the piping leaves my reputation intact.
(is that a good thing she's saying about me, intact reputations are good, aren't they ????) ;)
We go through this process every time something new is announced. The complaints, whining, etc. are, for me, a source of amusement. I love it.
Okay Mr. Batchman, when are you going to get off your duff and get us something new???
Hah! Is this a great hobby, or what?

Try tracing the piping on the 2-8-0. It's quite amusing. The feedwater lines from the tender go straight into the firebox, and it just gets more convoluted from there. They've gotten better since then, but I still wouldn't recommend their designers moonlight as plumbers. :D

Would you say this thread has gotten a little off track?
-JRT
Hey Mr. B
I will attempt to get this thread back on track
Has shipping to dealers started yet? Customs has had long enough.
Time to start running with new caboose. ;D ;D
Rick
I agree with you rslater.
If the custom boys and girls have them much longer, they may just want to keep them all for themselves. You won't let this happen ?, will you Mr Bach Man. ? :'(
I just purchased 4 idler cars and 2 open end pipe gondolas to go with the rest of the freight sitting in the yard. :D but it can't leave the yard until it has its CABOOSE. Sorry I didn't mean to shout....... Yes I did, ;D
My Anticipation is wearing very, very, thin.
Relax. They arrived in Philadelphia last Thursday and are shipping this week, and it's not even September yet!
Would have posted this sooner but the Bach man and I just returned from Durango. Couldn't take another day of pacing back and forth on the loading dock so we had to get away! ;)

Just kidding ! We were attending dealer seminars with our good friends from Soundtraxx

We did take a nice train ride:

The caboose is shipping!
Actually, Mudhen--you need one more pipe gon--4 idlers and 3 gons--since you can have a gon at each end of an idler flat. gj

Sure you didn't miss much. Why even look?

You'll really like the cabeese!

glennk28:
The 3rd gondola is being picked up on Saturday. My supplier was short one. :-\
And to Buckco and the Back mann, thanks for all your input, weather it was good or bad, and your help. I will now be able to put anticipation away for a long over due rest, until you come out with something else I'll just have to have, Yesterday. ::)
Just can't wait to get my hands on it now to see how you have out done yourselfs this time, again, and put it on the tracks where it belongs. The train is about to leave the yard. Thanks again. ;D
Nice pictures of the caboose too. I have to go to Durango, someday :)
Which actual caboose number was measured to arrive at the current model being produced?

ANTICIPATION IS OVER ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
My caboose is being delivered tomorrow can't wait to see it in hand.
Are you not the lucky one. My supplier said I will have mine by next Saturday. sniff....sniff :-\
Hey All,
My caboose arrived today. Must be the first kid on the block. What a beauty. ::)
Read the directions for removing the roof. Tricky at first. If you are using batteries remove the cushion first
then slide the cover back. As soon a I change couplers, I am ready.
:D ;D :o ::)
Let me hear you comments when you get yours
Rick
Hi All,
Installed kadees. Something has changed. The 830 no longer just drops in the draft gear box. I trimmed the lug and the insides of the coupler shank. Slid right in place. I am going to drill holes, replace the pins, so the cut levers are not loose. Graphics are very sharp but the paint is a little glossy, a shot of dulcote will take care of that.
Later,
Rick ;)
I picked up one of the new Spectrum, 1:20.3 long cabooses today. Bachmann has really raised the bar on this one. The dimensions look good, the detail is great, and the interior is fantastic! The car even rolls well. Well done Bachmann.
John
my dealer did not have them yet as of Tuesday morning (8/25)--but I saw at least three on eBay already. gj
Mine arrived at the dealers on the 17th. As luck would have it that's the day we left for Canada to attend our daughter's wedding.

Was able to pick the cabin up today. Took a couple of pictures before getting started adding detail and lettering. The caboose arrived in great condition. Bachmann has a winner with this latest offering.
Now we'll see what Danny has to say. ;)

As delivered it appears that the marker light lanterns are not properly installed on most if not all units. The markers have the green lense to the rear. Wrong.
Red should show to the rear and sides. Green should show to the front. Have read, but don't know for sure, that at some point in time the markers were changed to amber lenses to the sides and rear.
On another site there's a posting where a new owner managed to damage the marker light wiring when trying to get the red lenses facing to the rear. It is not necessary to pull the marker light assembly from the body. The lantern will slide off the marker light base.
Here's the lantern removed from its base. All that is necessary to get the proper lense orientation is to move the left lantern to the right side and right lantern to the left. Also refer to page G887X-IS001 of supplied documentation. Takes about a minute or so to make the correction. Wonder why folks won't take the time to review supplied documentation before attempting any work on a model. ::)
Wonder if Danny has figured this out yet?

Thanks for the "quick fix" info Jon!
JD,
You gonna paint those hand rails and ladders to match the prototype photo above, or gonna wait to see what "Danny" says? ;)

Seems that Bachmann has forgotten about us up in the great white north. But my supplier says he hopes to have them next week. Thank God, I am so jealous that some of you already have your cabooses. Here come anticipation again !!!!!!!
Actually, the green shows to both sides and the front, red to the rear. And on the Rio Grande, Santa Fe, and Pennsy, it wasn't green, it was yellow. (some markers had a solid slide-up door on the side toward the car body as access to the burners, others had this panel with a lens on it. I have such markers in my collection--and in the past have displayed them on the local steam train. gj
As Glenn points out lense color displayed varied by railroad. The only constant seems to be red to the rear.
What is constant is that Rule 19 (Markers) in any Railroad's Operating Rules establishes the color of lenses displayed in markers.
To be prototypically correct, for a period, you would have to have that railroad's Operating Rules, in force for the period being modeled, and consult Rule 19.
As late as 1969 the C&O/B&O recognized that other railroad's markers would not necessarily be the same as those used on their railroad. Under Rule 19 the C&O/B&O states, "Trains of other railroads may display markers as prescribed by that railroad when operating on C&O-B&O rails."

I'll have to remember the"Rule 19" reference next friday when I get my 1938 Rio Grande rulebook back form the rinding repair. That should be the auhority. gl
It's here, yes, yes, yes.
It made it to the big white north. Will pick it up Friday night or Saturday morning. I'm on spurs and ties. Will let you know how it looks on the tail end.
Thank God anticipation paid off.
I got my #505 last week, and it's a beautiful model. Again, well done Bachmann. The only problem I had was that one of the couplers got damaged in shipping. The little wire loop which the uncoupling rod goes through was missing, so I pulled one off of one of the extra couplers supplied with the caboose and glued it onto the "normal" coupler. Problem solved.
OK, now how about some stock cars? (Numbered for the two sitting at Dulce right now, of course)
??? I've had my long caboose on order since last December from St. Aubin and I'm told that their shipment from Bachmann has not arrived yet. From reading of all you lucky ones who have received yours already, I can't help but wonder why one of the biggest suppliers of garden railway equipment has not shipped anything out to those of us with longstanding orders. Any one else experiencing this, or is it just me? :'(
Desert Geezer
I received mine from Caboose Hobbies last Friday and WOW!! Whooee!! That is one impressive piece of modeling!! :o ;D I have the Rio Grande Moffat Road version and it really finishes off my train! From my Bachmann K-27 all the way to my Bachmann long caboose...life is good!! ;) :D
Bachmann:
Wow, ;D
You out did yourselves again. ;) D
The long caboose is fantastic, better than I was expecting. ;) :D ;D
Great job and well worth the wait.
well--perhaps my dealer will get them soon???
Durango Dan just posted "his" thoughts:

impressive!

Not only a "Home Run" but a GRAND SLAM!! ;D
Decisions, decisions; ???
I now have to decided what era to do my caboose in.
To paint the ladders and grab rails, silver, white, or leave it as is. To paint or not to paint, that is now the question. ;D
I'm beginning to think that the supply of cabooses to St. Aubin's in Nevada was shipped by mule train from Philly. They STILL don't have their shipment--other places are sold out--I even see them on eBay--I hear it's a nice model???? gj
To glennk 28:
Maybe you should ask for a refund on your deposit and get it on E-Bay. The wait would be killing me.
I might==big problem is tyhat the eBay seller od a;sdp om Ca;ogprmoa--wjovh means almpdt 10% extra tp Armoe amd cp,[amu fpr sales tax/ gj
Finally got mine! Nicely done model--BUT--the marker lamps are strange--3 yellow and a green lenses?? The yellow lenses are correct, but the fourth one should be red.

I hafta say that is is not only a better-looking model than my AccuCraft brass model in just about every respect, but it was a third of the price, too.
tac
www.ovgrs.org
now if someone will do some correctly-colored marker lamp lenses--the yellows are OK but we need red ones. See D&RGW Rule 19. gj
I certainly must echo the previous comments, what a car, super detailed superbly, looks great beside the Accrucraft Short Caboose.
This will take some beating, what next Bach-man.
Speaking of the Accucraft short caboose--is there a trick to getting the roof off--or at least the cupola--to access the interior? Thanx--gj
