Putting a MT 903/905 Z scale coupler on the front is pretty easy.

I cut the back of the coupler box off just like the MT instructions show:

Atlas always lists them with their roadnames. So far I see C&O, B&O, ACL, NYC/P&LE, Clinchfeild, Chessie System, SCL, and L&N all are CSX licensed. New Haven isn't listed as licensed by anyone. A whole bunch of old western roads are licensed by UP like Rio Grande, MKT, SP, MP, WP, CNW, and Cotton Belt.

Not a complete list, but you see how there are a bunch of roadname that are covered. I think MFGs make some sort of blanket payments or just get permision to use the trademarks.

Don't they need permission to do B&O from CSX?

Here is one with a trailer:

They all had the high arched windows, but Bachmann chose to model the Buffalo Creek Railbus that had it's roof lowered so it no longer had the arches.

I would say they were thinking about it when they made the 44T frame with it's modular cab weight. Just slide the weight back and add a new shell. Very easy for them to do.

I do wish that Bachmann's railbus was based on them as built and not the one single railroads bus that had it's roof lowered. The original version as built with the arched upper windows looks much better to me.

General Discussion / DCC on board?
July 16, 2008, 11:34:50 PM
Mr. Bachmann,

Can you please explain the extra costs involved with making locomotives that have DCC on board?  I really don't feel good about being forced to pay a extra ~$15 for a decoder that I don't want or need.

Thanks
Chris

For the DCC people. Hey I have no problems if you want to run DCC. I have no problems if locomotive are made so a decoder install will be easier.

My only problem is paying extra for you guys.
Thanks

What I read was the chassis (frame/motor) was built by FWD and the body was built by Brill.

So 98% of what you see is Brill.

It is a Brill prototype. I like the arched windows better:
