Thomas & Friends / Re: SKARLOEY IS IN STOCK

So I took the drawings of the locomotive I posted about and drew artwork to have parts etched in brass. This is what I've got so far:

That is the Bachmann Skarloey chassis under all that.

This locomotive would be a hit in Hon30 or On30. Just sayin'.

It would be great if Bachmann would get into HOn30. The Skarley chassis would be a great start for this real 30" locomotive:

And it wouldn't be that far off to make a 0-4-4 Maine Forney like WW&F 9 that was just brought back into service and was owned by 3 different railroad, with 3 different paint/lettering schemes.

Just sayin'

I got the quote to buy these gears. I'm a little upset that I have to pay for them. I have a Climax and Railbus that are both broke right out of the boxes.

For what it's worth all P&LE S4's were sold in 1966. Here is what they looked like in 1964:

And here is the Howard Fogg post card of something that was never made in the "real" world:

I have no hope of Bachmann changing what is probably already "done", but I would buy one in the correct paint.

On30 / Re: Railbus gears

It was a railbus still in the shrink wrap that I took out and tested on a piece of flextrack since I have no layout. It was about a year ago so I don't remember which one, but one wheel wouldn't spin when it was running. I took it all apart and found the cracked gears. It has been sitting in pieces ever since.

I mailed NWSL and they planned to make them, but weren't yet.

There are 6 bevel gears inside the railbus and I would like to replace them all. With metal if possible.

Thanks

On30 / Railbus gears
December 29, 2011, 05:48:45 PM
Just wondering if there are replacement bevel gears for the railbus yet and if so who makes them?

My brand new rail bus had 3 cracked bevel gears and has sat on the shelf for over a year now.

Thanks

I did get a hold of NWSL. The shay and railbus use different gears and they have not yet tooled up for the rail bus gears. So it could be a while.

Wonder if any of those RC car gears fit?

On30 / Bevel gears

Can anyone tell me if the bevel gears in the Bachmann railbus are the same as the shay?  I have a railbus with split gears and would like to buy the NWSL gears if they will fit.

Thanks

Yes that is it.  It has Bachmann's new couplers on it and that is a new paint job. I wonder what other improvements?

Can we see more.

I see here you are re-running the 4-4-0 old timer:

It has your new couplers so must be some re-tooling. I wonder if the locomotive chassis is updated at all?

But the shaft doesn't touch the frame so you are fine.
