N / Brill trolley gradient
January 09, 2016, 12:56:13 PM
I would like to set up two Brill trolleys as funiculars climbing a gradient. Any knowledge of what the maximum gradient (angle) is  that they will climb? Am considering 61086 (Desire) or 61090 (Main St). Thanks.

N / Bachmann 44847 auto reverse
November 29, 2015, 10:26:56 AM
The product description says included are 4 pcs of 5" auto reversing straight track and 2 pcs of 5" straight track (not auto reversing, I assume?)  Can the length of run be increased using standard EZ track or must it be "Auto reversing". If so why the 2 pcs of regular straight track in the package? I need a straight run of about 72"

Also, does the straight auto reversing track go at each end of the run?   Thanks!!

HO / "power routing" #5 turnouts
February 18, 2014, 01:09:05 PM
I apologize for re-visiting this topic. I have read the previous posts and am left as confused as I started by the 3 pages of posts. I just constructed a simple siding with left and right #5 EZ track turnouts. I also thought that when you switched from main line to siding ( or vice versa) the power shut off to the opposite track. Not so, both stay equally active. The electrical switching mechanism works fine but is definitely not switching  the power from one track to the other. Can anyone offer a SIMPLE explanation , i.e., are these switches  actually not "power routing" at all? Why are they described as that? Any simple soultion?  Does powering or not powering the frog make any difference to this situation?. I am using DC, not DCC. The siding does me no good if the train on it wants to move!! Thanks for any help offered!

HO / Passing siding construction
January 21, 2014, 11:34:38 AM
Would like to put a single passing siding parallel to my main. Could someone with more experience/computer modeling tell me if my calculations are correct? Using EZ track - use #5 turnouts and add a 3" straight piece to each. Then add one 12" section of 33.25" R curve to each. This should give a straight line between the ends of the two 33.25 " R pieces that have a 2.75" center-to-center separation parallel to the main.  Correct?  Thanks!!

HO / DCC controlled E-Z track turnouts
April 27, 2013, 02:39:00 PM
I apologize if this has been asked many times before. Can someone please explain to me the difference in angle/radius or whatever among the #4, #5 and #6 DCC controlled E-Z track turnouts? I cannot find any specifications or information anywhere, including this Bachmann site.  Thank you.

N / Passenger car lighting
June 23, 2011, 04:48:15 PM
Would like to light a few passenger cars and am considering the Rapido "Easy Peasy" lights. I would appreciate opinion from anyone who has installed them. Is it a good product; does it work as advertised etc?? The product sounds too easy and "too-good-to-be-true".Thanks.

N / AC accessories bus
May 23, 2011, 08:44:34 PM
In building my layout I'm running out of space on the AC accessories poles of my MRC power source plus two Bachmann small power sources. Can anyone suggest an AC power bus with multiple poles to operate - 10 +  lights on an n scale layout. It would be ideal if I could mount it underneath my table (3/4" plywood). MRC/ Radio Shack? etc.  Thanks for any input!

N / MRC power packs
May 06, 2011, 08:04:40 AM
Am planning to run two trains on the same track (with passing siding); each train using dual locomotives. I assume I'll need more power than supplied by the little Bachmann unit that comes with the train sets. Suggestions for the best MRC unit to buy for this application?
Second question - how do the MRC packs connect into the Bachmann terminal rerailers? Are the plug jacks universal?  Thanks!

N / H-16-44; B&O #927
April 17, 2011, 03:29:14 PM
I have one of these pulling a dozen cars and it works great. I would like to make a longer train (I have the track for it to look good). My question - Are these locos designed to be able to work together in series; that is, will they pull together if two are placed in series?  I have heard that sometimes a slight difference in pulling power between units of the exact same model will cause problems. Anyone have any experience putting two of these together?  Thanks.  Mr. Bach-man - your thoughts?

N / passing siding help please
April 15, 2011, 10:53:14 PM
For a passing siding I assume that I need to have power independently going to the siding so the main line and siding need not be "hot" simultaneously.. Is the best way to use the 10" straight track piece with under track wiring that Bachmann sells, set it up on an individual controller, and then isolate the siding by removing the little track guides that make the electrical connection on E-Z track? Any and all information/advice from those who have a passing siding off a main line would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

A product question for "The Bach-man"  - is this bridge compatible with E-Z track?  Thanks.

N / An extremely stupid question
April 03, 2011, 03:17:45 PM
I have just received the 26 pc Bachmann graduated trestel  set and the 8 pc elevated track set. The 8 pc elevated set simply snaps around the track as expected - but - for the life of me I can't figure out how the smaller trestel pieces fit onto the track. What am I missing????? Thanks

N / derailment
March 26, 2011, 08:58:09 AM
I have just set up the "Empire Builder" kit.  The front wheels of the loco will not stay on the track for more than one circuit at any speed. It appears to operate best between about 55 - 65% power, but continuously derails. Any suggestions??? Thanks (I'm very new to this)

N / 12.5" terminal rerailer
March 25, 2011, 01:02:47 PM
I am building a figure 8 with 12.5" radius track Do you sell a terminal rerailer with wire for that curvature? It will be most inconvenient if I have to use the 10" straight that I say on your site.  Thanks.
