General Discussion / DCC equipment
March 02, 2013, 12:20:44 AM
I recently bought a 3-truck Shay with DCC & sound. I do not have the Bachmann system, yet,I have a power supply to 22 volts 15 amps. Is the E-Z command # 44902 sufficient to operate this system? Or do I need the Dynamic wireless? I am acquainted with & use  LGB digital & MTH Proto Sound 2 ASdvise sought.Rob Roy//

Large / k27 Tender coupling
March 31, 2012, 08:18:22 PM
Attention all K27 owners; last weekend we ran our K27 after being idle for a few years, it ran light engine, fortunately, as the coupling pin FELL out of the tender. We gave up hope of finding it so made a replacement. viz. 34mm (1 3/8th inch )of 5/32 dia. twist drill shank, glued in with Super Glue. This fits perfectly & is a good repair. As luck would have it we found the offending item on the track some days later, it showed no signs of being affixed to the tender. Why were we lucky K27 was running light engine? Because under a load the tender would have pulled all the wire couplings out, major damage. Suggest you all do a quick examination of the tender.

Large / Re: Spectrum 4-4-0

Hi Chris9017, thank you for your detailed reply. I have had discussions with the Chief Engineer & she agrees with your suggestion to cut the thing off & get on with it. The CE is one of 11 siblings with 8 brothers so she has a substantial grasp on mechanical matters. If you would care to look at our web site, it is
www.kurremigardenrailway.com.au , We have 650 ft of track , an Australian village circa 1920. The main theme is loco engineering, from small US loggers to shays ,climax, heisler,& the big Challenger,Big Boy & triplex which is a big hit with the viewing public at display days. Thanks again  Rob Roy

Large / Spectrum 4-4-0
January 25, 2011, 08:46:13 PM
Help needed, we recently received the above "American"; on its first major run on our layout(outside) one of the wires to the tender snagged on something & pulled out of the engine; the white power lead.  Question how do I open up the loco to gain access to the motor to reconnect this wire? The Owners Manual is of no assistance.
We have 13 Bachmann locos,Including Thomas & Percy, we find the Spectrum series a great pleasure & a delight to look at and operate,we dont know which is the best K27 or 3 truck Shay, then again the 2-6-6-2.
