HO / Mr. Bachmann. Any info on this train set?
September 22, 2009, 06:40:10 PM

I been seening the peices of the set on ebay for outrages prices($20 for the rolling stock plust like $8 S&H) and i think it was $70 for the loco)

CAn you give any info on this set on where I can get one? the site i found the picture on says its an exclusive. which is probably bad news for me :'(. Considering the B&O's Royal Blue was pulled by the Philidelphia and Reading this would be a good addition to my collection.

Thanks.

HO / Finally.....
June 23, 2009, 06:14:02 PM
I finally got my 4th Climax repaired, well somewhat. It only has rear truck drive as do 2 of my others(i think i can't remember which ones only have rear truck drive). The front truck on it was destroyed but repairable when my dogs jumped up on my work bench knocking it on the floor and knocked over two fo my other ones. Reason for repairing the loco is that I do not intende to pull no more then maybe 2 Old Time coaches with it. maybe 2 of the Bachmann Log cars and a bobber caboose.  Oddly enough i have a somewhat large logging locomotive set but i didnt intend on having a logging operation on the layout. was gonna use em on a tourist line, but that might be changing as my layout zone has been greatly reduced.

I've got
a Shay Baltimore & Ohio #6(B&O Really did own two shays at one point) this loco is currently down for mateince and a long over do of being stripped and repainted(i put so many layers of paint on it that the rivit detail was goin away)
a Hesiler Baltimore & Ohio #4
and 4 B&O Climaxs(only 3 painted and numbered, 4th one working on it)

I'll post photos of all of them within the next few days i plan on re-decaling the shay tomorrow. if you cant wait, i have a youtube video showing the heisler(old paint scheme, it was recently given a charcoal smokebox) and 3 of 4 climax's. I missed the shay when i did it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wzC0OzSZ3bA

that will be getting updated shortly with diffrent music, probabaly all Evanescence as they seem to be the only ones not upset about thier  music being used on youtube

Edit: If you guys have any kind of projects show it off here! id like to get jealous of people who are better then me haha

I think the one i have has a problem, and i just noticed it....its only got the Road Number on one side, Mr. Bach-Man is it supposed to be that way? my LHS is currently out of them so i can check there. haha.

Oh THumbs up on the new Catalog, good idea to put the minimum radius's on the locos.

HO / Recent Projects
October 19, 2008, 04:44:04 PM
Well I'm 98% complete two more projects, one has taken me over a year to do. And will be ready for running by the end of tonight(i just need to get her a headlight and i saw some at the past show na dforgot to pick em up  :-[ .

Before:

The tender was added after i bought theboiler and cab. The boiler and cab were found under a shelf during the move of MB Klein. Was going to be tossed out but i said i'd buy it. Bought it for $1. Tender was bought from a train show.

After: Nearly complete. Justs needs and overcoat and the headlight. The Number board on the front will be remounted shortly.Decals were by Walthers.

I already had two of this next engine. But in order to get the 4 car set of B&O Overland Coaches i had to get anohter one(now that i have it they re-released the cars sepratly  >:( ) So i took the third 2-6-0 B&O and made it into Ma & Pa #2

Both engines still need overcoats

What have you guys been working on?

HO / Worth the price?
October 12, 2008, 08:10:07 PM

WAs that worth $44?

Few more things i picked up at the Great Scale Model train Show....

I want one of those in B&O but can only find em on EBay.

Never knew Roundhouse did a Ma & Pa Caboose.

I also was able to get 6 packs of Walthers Decals for B&O Old Time Locos.

HO / Excursion Cars....
August 23, 2008, 07:48:54 PM
Very nicely detailed. we Finaly got them in and was a little surprised they took a 15 inch radius. I personally would have liked the CASS style cars mostly becuase i was going to have a "high" bridge on my layout. well i guess i can still have it if i put a fence around it to make it look safe for the fella's riding the train. I'll be picking mine up ASAP and of course having my Climax's Shay or Hiseler pulling them. I think i can get away triple heading 3 Climax's on DC

Hey MR. B. Any chance of you guys making the Log Car with Crane that CASS has(I have a Cass DVD I got today)

Slight Off Topic to all members...maybe Mr. B can answer this...is it possible to mix DCC controllers(IE using the Bachmann Dynamis for my normal operations while using say Digitrax for my Loging/Tourist Line as i want to have switch backs and will need to stop both trains(trailing each other) so they dont run into each other and the DT4 would work. (We had a Digitrax Seminar this past week).

HO / Jackson Sharp Cars avaliibilty
August 14, 2008, 07:03:07 PM
Last month we were told they were "Shipping" but as of today 8/14 where i work has not received them yet. We had recived a shipment not long ago after the announcements but none of the new items were in it. I heard a reason why we hadn't gotten them, but since its been a month shouldn't that problem have been resolved?(I only know of that becuase i handle Bachmann Trains at the shop)

And on a side note....in the descriptions the one is marked "Green and black" yet the photo shows red and green....whats the true colors....the description or the photo as none of them match up?

HO / Small question about Excursion Cars Bach-Man
July 17, 2008, 08:15:51 PM
Do the seat backs flip? it sure looks like they can except on the two end benches)

Also in the announcemnts you state a green & black car, but the item number under the photos in the thing show a green and red...is that just a typo(I'd really pefer the green & Red)

HO / All i can say is OUCH!
July 13, 2008, 02:36:10 PM
A new danger to us model railroaders. Dogs and Decoders. Let Me explain. My dogs like to get up on my worktable and knock stuff over so i rarely leave a loco or car sitting on it while im out at work. Well i Failed to remove a decorder which they knocked on the floor. And lets just say i ended up becomming "Decoder Equipped" 7 of the 8 pins went right into my foot. Somehow not a drop of blood but it sure hurts like...you know.(it was a Bachmann decoder that i recently took out of a 2-8-0 to make it run with my other one which was not DCC on board)

I give it 4 stars outta 5. Missing somethings but its a good reading book.

Ma & Pa Baggage 375

Ma & Pa Coach 102

Ma & Pa Coach 110

I also have a COmbine that is half done....284. I need another set of Ma & Pa decals before i show it. I ran out of lettering.  these cars are painted and lettered after the style of the RPO at the B&O Railroad Musuem in Baltimore, MD

I may need to get one of the Ma & Pa 4-4-0's I dont think #27 will beable to handel the work load i have planned. (I have the Bachmann made Caboose)

Also I made a video(which is already out dated!) about a week or two ago with all the locomotives i have(some that are unpainted/in parts were not shown) and you can see that here:  http://youtube.com/watch?v=JghzFlNeLpg

Tell me what you think!

HO / 2-10-0 PRoblem and fix
May 21, 2008, 07:48:12 PM
I recently figured out why my 2-10-0 was dead and overloading the powerpack.

Reason: The contacts touching the axles causing a short.

Fix: Peice of electrical tape around each side to insulate it from the wheel, or just tape the contacts up so they do not touch the axle. Runs fine now although the headlight appears to be a little dim(unde version)

To access the contacts just remove the plate holding the axles in place. The contacts are attached to each other via a peice of brass? to the wires that goes into the tender.

First off I converted mine to DC using included plugs, and was using Bachmann EZ-Track with 28 Radius and i think #6 Turnouts(can't remember)

Bachmann 2-8-4 Kanawaha 2724
Runs i'd say 5MPH as its lowest speed (I have no real way of telling i'm just eyeing it)

I had it pulling a coal drag of 23 Athearn 34' Hoppers(would have been 24 but the one wouldnt stay coupled)+ a Walthers C&O Caboose Even up a slight grade(probably 1% as my house is unlevel) Showed no slipping(atleast if there was it wasn't noticeable)

I give it 4 stars, Could be slightly more detailed but worth the $80 i spent on it. Pulls fine, i recommened over the Proto 2000 Kanawaha

Compeition Berkshire/Kanwaha
Life Like Proto 2000 Kanawaha Slipped when I last ran it with 15 cars. I spent $182 on it I give it 2 Stars

4-4-0 Richmond Southern "Selma"

Runs about 5 MPH Slow speed(i have no real way of telling i'm just eyeing it)

Pulled way more then I thought it would. Pulled my Milk Train of 12 Roundhouse Milk Cars and 1 Bachmann Bobber Caboose. Showed some slipping when first getting started(I should probably eased on the throttle, i took it to 50% Power in one swift move) once i eased off the throttle and lowered the power it started gripping and for some odd reason(i haven't figured it out but i have an idea) when it starts going down the grade it would just stop and drivers still going(may have been a dip in the track as i found it after testing the American)while pulling the 12 Milk cars.

I give it 5 Stars, greatly detailed and pulls great.

I Can't rate competion as there is really none except the IHC 4-4-0 American "Modern" (Roundhouse is a Middle 4-4-0) which I do not own. I Only own a few Rivarossi/AHM/IHC 4-4-0 Old Timers

I have video eveidence that theses tests took place but due to very bad quality i will not post (avalible upon request on AIM however). My SN is BaltoOhioRRFan

Ok as far as i know, it only has happened when testing this one engine. Don't know if its happened with others but I was running an AHM 4-4-0 I recently rebuilt. and it causes my keyboard to my computer to stop responding. Not sure if its the power pack or the engine causing this. Any help?

HO / Most Recent Buys and projects
February 04, 2008, 07:54:10 PM
Heres what i've bought recently

4-4-2 B&O by Mantua $50 Runs nice needs cleaning and possible new paint job

2-4-0 York & Peach Bottom $55 needs to be broken in and cleaned

GP18 LLP2K $25 has a binding problem.(note the BTC Peter Witts behind)

Don't ask, Don't remember why i got it. $20

Next up is a project that i been working on. (well getting pars for, i did all the work so far in about an half hr)

During the move of MB Klein we found a beat up Rivarossi Engine under a ser of shelves, they were gonna toss it but I talked them into letting me buy it($1)

as you can see it was almost trashed. I added the tender before taking the pic.

All thats left is the paint. I might make up a ficional road for it. I gave it a new frame, tender, sand dome, smoke box cover, and cleaned it and lubed it. Should run good as new when I take it into work tomorrow to show off. I'm going to leave teh cow catcher like it is.
