Have drawn main loops using E-Z track.  All turnouts are remotes.

     Hope this helps.

   Daylight,

As noted by others, you have drawn plan using True-Track. Are you actually going to use this system?
At top left there is no LH turnout on inner loop to connect to that on outer loop to form a second crossover.  Using two LH crossovers you can only cross between loops in one direction of travel and to cross back you must reverse direction and back over a crossover.
To cross back and forth between loops you need a LH and a RH crossover.

Prices seem to be rising almost weekly, so can anyone explain this ?

The IF 4-4-0 is $330 retail, yet the OF 4-4-0, released months later, which is much larger and comes with 3 stacks plus extras is $325 retail.
Perhaps the Chinese manufacturer found a source of cheaper labor.

Hi Rusty

I have a Trains folder with about fifteen different subjects under trains. Maybe a couple hundred links.

I also export the Favorites folder to en external USB storage device. Cannot be too careful with computers. If the PC dies, you still have all your Favorites.

Forget about small capacity memory 'sticks' and suchlike; the price of external USB hard drives has decreased  greatly.   I have a  350 GB external drive and save EVERYTHING to it including such as Backup files and software  exe files -- still only about 1/3 full.

This is a regauged On3 loco bought on Ebay.  Reading the various posts, there is speculation about it being an Overland item.

        Jul,

Take a look at this:- http://www.anyrail.com/index_en.html

      Has N  E-Z track.
Latest update has added even more track systems to already extensive library.

Its a shame Bachmann doesn't make a uncoupler track or unit of some type   I did not see any listed in the ez track section here.

     Larry,

You will find the Bachmann under track u/c magnets in E-Z Mate couplers page 2.  Can be used with both types of track.

     Bob,

Useful if you use Digitraxx  decoders.  Personally use TCS for non-sound and  Soundtraxx or Loksound for the bells and whistles.  TCS come with a leaflet which makes setup very easy.

The only thing I really miss about the magazines are the ads - great fodder for empire dreams and realities.

      No Subs.
I buy a single copy of MR or RMC about once a year to keep up with new items and for websites of suppliers and makers(cuts down number of 'bookmarks').  Since I am in On30 I prefer RMC for their greater coverage and also get notice of some new items posted on relevant Yahoo groups.

You might also try a free download from www.anyrail.com. It holds an impressive library of different track manufacturers. I used it to plan my last layout, but on the free version it will only allow you to lay fifty pieces of track.

Would think that it has just about every track system on the market from N to G scales.
A length of flexitrack counts as one piece so you can do quite a lot with the free version. You can also design a layout in parts that include station tracks and sidings and save them. No need to include the 'country' track that joins them. No  worries about exact lining up of turnouts at each end of a yard as you can connect with stretchable, curvable flexi.
It is also great for designing mini-layouts as you can mix track from various scales : 9" N scale curves and HO turnouts for an On30 mini as an example.
I liked it enough to buy the complete version -- have 'wasted' a few hours trying out various yard formations as a break from other activities.
If you also have Train player/Track Layer you can directly import the Anyrail files and run virtual trains to test your efforts for operation.

Someone mentioned recently somewhere (I can't recall where) that the newest runs of the On30 mogul have additional electrical pickups in the tender.

Think that the Bach-Man would have mentioned such an update.  Will believe it when someone posts a photo of these tender pickups.

    Chris,

Suggest that you try the Loksound  0-6-0 and/or 4-4-0.

     Joe,

The 2-6-0 does not have an 8 pin socket so must be 'hardwired'.

      Bob,

Regarding the 'bind'.   Place loco on bench facing towards you then with a hand on each side insert fingernail between bottom of boiler and chassis. gently pull open and lift.
Before replacing, hold boiler above chassis and note relative position of motor brushes. Remove about 1/16" to 1/8" about 1" long from each side of boiler opening around noted position. Makes things easier if you want to remove boiler again later.

I tried going to PhotoBucket without signing in & searched for wlaine.  It worked for me.  So you might like to see my Model Train album, which is all photos of my layout.  It's not recommended for rivet-counters, just folks with a friendly interest.
                                                                 Bill

      Bill,

Just searched for "wlaine" images and got a single photo --"first load".  Then clicked on slideshow and got your train show album.   No sign of your layout so what am I doing wrong?
