Permatex makes a two part 2 ton epoxy for plastic. Get it at a auto parts store.  it sets up very hard and can be drilled and tapped if need be. Just an Idea.....Later all S.B.

Scroll down the list of posts and read through the thread titled   "paint removal from locomotives". It was started by Loco Bill. In said thread, we discussed a product called Testors ELO. Bill got some interesting results that "may" be up your alley. Don and Bill make the comment that different technique's work differently on almost every item, even of the same brand. Read it, good info for re painters.       Later all.......S.B.

Thanks for the info,  Bill.  Sorry the ELO didn't work as we thought or hoped it would.  I will still try it on an Aristo GP40 here in the next month or so and will let everyone know of my results.  I don't feel as a full paint strip will be necessary, as Bill mentioned, I'll be starting with an SP unit, so a mild scuffing is really all that is required.  None the less, I'll try it on a small spot and let ya know how it goes.  Sorry again, Bill.     Later all......S.B.

Bill,  I know it's risky and if I get a piece of some thing to try it on, I'll pass along the results. As for the ELO results on the Campbell's car.....interesting effect.  Makes one wonder what kind of sealer their using on these things and if the paint isn't more dye than paint. let us know the results if you get a chance to try the ELO on a Bachmann piece,or I will if I get there first.  Hope all goes well.....Later all......    Bill,   Sorry that the ELO isn't working for you, my guys swear by the stuff, even on clear lexan. When I try it on an Aristo, I'll let you know what happens. The only other thing I know to try is 'Permatex' aerosol gasket remover. I know it will remove automotive paint from cars and bikes in about 10 seconds flat, wipe it off with a paper towel.  "NOT" sure what it will do to plastic, it may melt it, I don't know. If you try it , be carefull, TEST....TEST.....and RE-test. Hope you find a solution.....later all.....S.B.

Bill,   Sorry if this is a dumb question, but...have you tried Testors E.L.O. (easy lift off)??  I hear from some of the local guys that it will strip anything down to the plastic and not hurt the fine details. I plan to try it on an Aristo  GP 40 in a few months. The one guy I talked to said he used it to strip a model car he was redoing after 20 years. He used automotive paint and baked the finish the first time and he said it worked on that. Hope this helps.....later all.....S.B.

I have a small set up for the living room. Three Bachmann cars, an older raindeer transport         (green roof) and a combine and obs. that I painted to match the raindeer transport. The pass cars have flickering stoves and red trimmed green carpet down the center Isle. Wont get them done this year, but still looking for some scale (ish)  garland to put with some little lights and drape down the sides. Current loco is an Aristo 0-4-0 with slope back tender. There are plans for adding a few cars down the road and at that point, more locomotive. but for now, I've got this one,it looks good, and I'll see how it works. If the little one isn't up to ,I'll swap in one of my 10 wheelers for this year. just made my own water slide decals the other day and lettered them up, wish our camera still worked , I'd post pic's.....later all......S.B.

I have a Bachman Big Hauler "Golden Spike" that only gets used during the holidays.  It runs for a few minutes and then stops also.  I've tried cleaning the track but it continues to exhibit the same problem every year.  It always stops at a joint in the track.                                          try tightening the track joiners and if that doesn't work...check eBay for another transformer(controller)or pass the middle man and get a new one from Bachmann or ....up grade......later all.....S.B.

The best place for LED's right know would be K-Mart or a Dollar store. A 50 or more count string is under $10, that is way cheaper than one at a time at Radio shack, $1-$2 each. Take the LED's out and toss the rest, or use the remains as trade in's at Home Depot if their still doing that near you. You may require a diode to limit current. Their is a post on here some where that tells about it, I'll look and add  another post with more info if someone else hasn't explained before I find it....later all......S.B.                                            O.K. found some info.....on October 7 and 21 there were posts along these lines.  If NarrowMinded reads this and could put in his two cents, or any one that knows what the deal with diodes is(as I'm still not real sure) I think it would be a big help to many of us.  again.....later all......S.B.
