I had a similar question a while back and was told that the prototypes were painted with Krylon spray paint and the factory matched the color as best they could.  Thus far .....the only  item I know of that isn't done that way is the rail truck. Go back to page 3(Oct 4) The Bach-man replied to me and another to the same affect then. I have good results so far with this method. Hope this helps ........S.B. ;D

I'm afraid that the wheels on each Axel aren't separate pieces, and if they are, they dont like to be, sounds to me like you may have a bad bearing or broken Axel. Turn your loco over, there is a plastic plate that runs the length of the under side, remove a bunch of screws and lift it off. you may want to look at http://www.girr.org/girr/tips/tips1/big_hauler_tips.html for tips and tricks on disassembly and also, at the top of this page it says "parts and services", click it then select product references and scroll down 'till you see large scale and 4-6-0. It is an anniversary addition but is the same for getting the axles out.  Hope this is some help........S.B.

Hi Rose ,sorry about the boys ....but go girls, I'll try to help...If the engine is truly Bachmann then you have several options. Bachmann sells a "large scale power pack and speed control" that can be gotten most places that sell trains including this sight. Another option is to watch eBay as there is almost always someone selling the track and transformer out of a new starter set, sometimes just the transformerand or track connection clip. The newer Bachmann units seem to be silver and square as the older ones were rectangular and brown with a red control knob. A compeditor sells a "light" version of their hands free set up but even it tends to get pricey. If you intend to watch eBay ...watch the price as it can go too high really quickly, shop around a little, check Train world, they sell all Bushman's stuff and Bachmann has directed me there them selves.  This way you have the option of buying new and being done with it or chasing the deal on eBay. Either way you'll have an idea what a good price is......... Hope this was at least a little helpful......S.B.

I hereby and hence forth elect and vote for Loco bill to be the"OFFICAL" Bachmann historian, at least for the formum. He provides more factual info on Bachmann trains that has helped more or rather most of us.... what do you say guy's???  Mr Bach-Man???...............S.B.

Large / Stove flicker
October 21, 2010, 01:22:54 AM
N.M.   Awhile back I read a post of yours, and I'm sure a few others, that suggested using LED flickering tea lights to add effect to the stove in a Bachmann passenger car. These posts , combined with the one on adding light to the brake mans lantern led me to try it... great idea, cut up a few tea lights and you get fire in the stove[providing you opened the stove] I used the whole thing except most of the outer case and it is switched and has its own battery that I can change with out dismantling the car. Great idea guys... I'll post pictures if I get any...going to try the lantern next...and maybe an attempt at tail lanterns... got a few now, bought 6 of them for 4.50 at K-mart today. A note..... the little flame shaped cover for the tea light works pretty good at hiding the fact that its not real flame, just cut around it and slide it down over the LED's....S.B.
