Hello,  You will be very happy with your Williams by Bachmann purchase.

O27 is the smallest rails in O 3rail hobby(except for superstreets).  So this train set will run on Lionel O27 track and Standard O which is O31minimum curve.  You can run it on any curve of that size or bigger from any of the manufactures of 3rail O gauge track.  Note though that O27 has a lower profile to the rails.

In fact, here is a link that explains some of this:
http://www.lionel.com/ForTheHobbyist/AboutGauge/  I know this is a Bachmann forum but that link explains it well for a beginner.

You may want to check the OGR Forum...there are a lot of guys there that have built these ceiling layouts using all kinds of supports.

Good luck to you and welcome to the hobby :)

Lee,  that price is only the MSRP.  If you go to a WBB dealer, you will find they are much less.

I ordered the Cleveland streetcar, so far. I must say I like most of the paint schemes - a nice variety.

I have a question:
Will these have illuminated interiors?

First of all, I would like to thank Williams by Bachmann for doing the Norfolk Southern Executive set.  I am very excited about this.
I just saw the pre-production drawings of it and I like what I see.

I do have one suggestion though.  Many people that have or plan to pre-order this set, are ordering an extra B unit.  I am ordering two B units also

?Would you please consider doing a second B unit in another road number? Even a limited run of a second road number would be nice.

Thank you.

stubbsO-
For the E7 it was easy. Someone on the OGR forum posted that interior for and put it in his F3. I figured it could fit an E7 with little modifying. It did.

Finding one for the GP38 was just a guess and I don't mind admitting it. I got lucky. I looked through a long list of cab interiors on Lionel's parts site. I bought about four or five different interiors and hoped that one would work. They don't cost much and the ones that didn't fit just go into my own parts box for latter use. The one in my above photo is a great fit and it hides the motor that is very close to the windshield.

At least now Lionel is trying to post many pictures of the parts. In the future, it should be much easier.

Allan-
I saw some of your trolleys in the current issue of OGR. You have a nice collection.

I am really excited about these. I just placed an order for the Cleveland Transit PW trolley. I may also order one for Baltimore.
Way to go Williams by Bachmann!

Hello Steam1941-
I have not done the mod to start in neutral(I plan to this winter) but, I have done the series mod on both of my Williams by Bachmann.

It is very easy to do. Many people on OGR forum say you will loose top speed. They are correct but, your train will still be very fast. Having the ultra slow speed coming in and out of a station is better(to me anyway).

Here is a link to my photobucket album where I show step by step how to do the mod on my C&O E7. I did it without cutting the wires. I pulled them out of the wire connectors and taped them. Again, it is very easy.

Just click on each picture and I supplied directions for that step underneath.

Williams by Bachmann locomotives are excellent.
Part of the reason that they are so affordable is because they don't go over board with details. This is one of the reasons that I love them so much. You can modify them to your liking. They are also great runners.

I have a C&O E7 and a C&O GP38. I decided to add cab interiors in the GP38 and in both A units of the E7 set.

Lionel's F3 interiors fit  the E7 and GP38 with little modification. The one for the E7 only needs some filing/sanding to make it fit. There is another F3 interior, from Lionel that fits the GP38 better. The one I put in it has a cylindrical area that fits around the front motor perfectly. The motor is very close to the window and this hides it from view.

I put together an album on photobucket that shows photo of what I did.
Just go to this link> http://s574.photobucket.com/albums/ss182/SunfireGT1996/Cab%20Interiors%20for%20Williams%20by%20Bachmann/
If you click on each picture, in that album, you will see written details and the part numbers for the items I used.

I left the interior of the GP38 silver for photo purposes. I plan on painting it black to blend and disappear.

Wow. Did you buy these brand new?
The only thing I ever use the roller pick-ups on my cars is Atlas Conducta-Lube. I get great results with this product. Sorry to here that it isn't working for you.
I have never had this gumming up problem.
I wonder why it keeps happening to you.

Is it possible that this lube is reacting with you track cleaner and that is what is gumming up? I would try a different brand just to see. It can't hurt.

Just so you know- the only track cleaner that I use is Model Power Track Cleaner.
You may want to try this to see

Have you opened it up to see if it may be just a loose connection? Maybe the wire connector isn't pushed in fully. Just a thought.

I hope you figure it out.

This may or may not help.

I have a Lionel CW-80 that came with my North Pole Central.
I now use it as a testing unit in my work room.

I own a WBB E7.  I have ran it on my track with my CW-80.  The only thing I have encountered is when I push the bell button there is a delay. I push it...wait a few seconds...then the dinging starts.  There is also a delay when turning off the bell.
You just don't want to keep pushing the button.

The horn responds just fine.

Here is the info. on the bottom of my transformer:
   MODEL: cW-80
   I/P: 120VAC,60Hz
   O/P: 18VAC/80W
   P/N: 6-14198

and in the bottom right corner it says  G0906

I hope this helps.

Williams by Bachmann / Re: Wiring in series WBB E7
April 03, 2009, 10:47:47 AM
I just wired it in series yesterday.
I am very happy with it.  I use a Lionel ZW, so it delivers the volts.

I like that the headlight burns brighter.  I can get a nice slow speed coming in and out of the depot.  The top speed it now has is perfect.

Thanks.

I am having a similar problem with my WBB on a Lionel O60 FasTrack remote switch. I have not yet fooled around to find the source of problem.

Mine happens this way:
When my AA unit heads for the turnout, the lead unit starts to round the curve and then the back end of the Dummy A goes on the straight. This opens the switch so the next car runs straight and derails the train.

My Lionel switcher, and K-line switcher have no problem on this O60 switch.
After reading this post, it sounds like mine has to do with a wheel spacing being slightly off.  I need to check this out.
