Thank you Phil.

I wonder if I would find it at my LHS; the guy only seems to carry single Atlas NS snap track and engine lube.  He's more into the RC stuff.

Yea, the non flywheel motor in those Bach Blue Boxes is ok, but in general I prefer motors with flywheels.  More torque I believe.
When you use a spray cleaner, do you use something like CRC electric cleaner?
Thanks for your help.

Ray, that is exactly what I was keeping that junker around for, some scenery.  But after I saw your post about adding the pennies to weight them, I wanted to see if it would come apart in halves and it did!
So I am saying your penny idea should work if you make a cylinder out of them and then glue the cylinder in the bottom half, laying down.  Won't this work?

PS I use my own spell checker.  But where is the option on here?

Thanks Rich.

Yes I have Favorites stored for myself.

I was calling myself a B'duh bc I went into the this long winded description of "hoseeker" was without giving it the proper name, not realizing a poster before me gave the site's name, making it easy for all.

And Dave, I do believe that Bachmann, in Blue Boxes at least, sell F7s.  I have seen them when looking for FT stuff.

Ray, I just took an old junky Life Life tanker I had laying around and tried to take it apart.  And guess what?...

I don't know what it is about this Plus GP35 I have.  The noise it makes is driving me nuts.  I know for sure, when the motor has increased RPM, it creates a vibration.  It is not the flywheels bc they spin true.

Dave-have you ever had any luck with working on a Bachmann motor?  The kind I am referring to has 2 flywheels and rubber boots at either end.  One boot is easy to slip off the motor housing, but won't come all the way off bc the flywheel is in the way and won't budge.  The other boot does not want to move at all.

My suggestion, if you want to go through the time and effort, bc I know, taking stuff apart can be fun (at the worst, you bust something that is busted already) is to look on EBAY for a Model Power loco and find either an inexpensive one that works or one for parts.  Make sure you can see an underside view to make sure that is not what is broken, or ask the seller to post an underside picture so you can confirm what you are looking for for parts is not broken.  I have found the sellers who cooperate with this are good ones, and the ones who put up a stink over this request, should be shied away from-just my opinion.
If you buy one that is the exact body style to yours, you may even have the plus of having 2 different shells you can use for the same loco.  I am not certain of this, but I would suspect the Model Power you have has  similar parts to many others they made, even if they had a different shell.  I say this bc I have a Model Power C430 and it's parts diagram looks very similar to yours.  I know for sure, it has the same copper pickups for power to the wheels.   You may even want to ask a seller how long the loco is to compare it to yours.  There is also a sight I have found online that gives you the parts blow up for a lot of loco models.  Go to GOOGLE and type something like "HO parts diagram"  or something like that.  When you get to the right site, it will give you a whole slew of diagrams for different makers and models to chose from.  This way you might find a different Model Power model, parts will be identical to use as a cross reference .  Good luck in your search!
I will add that I do like how Bachmann has set up these similar style pickups on their Plus and Spectrum models.  Now, if I could only get that GP35 to run quieter....

I find myself using that sight as a reference ALL the time.

Ob-while not totally fool proof, I have found that a lot can be told about the car's maker from how the coupler's and trucks are set up and what they are made from.  Certain manufactures used the same style over periods of time.  One of the manufacturers that totally throws this out the window is AHM/ROCCO/LIMA, their "stuff" can vary on how and what they used for trucks, even though the cars look the same.  At least, this is what I have come across.

No apology needed Ray.  And your secret is safe with me  ;)

Jerry-I recently started to get Bachmann locos.  The new FT has good detail and runs well, a little on the noisy side.  Also kinda light.  I just got t2 Plus F7s for a project.  They are nice and heavy and their motors are pretty good sounding.
The Bachmann I have had the longest though, is my most disappointing loco.  It is a GP35 that I bought off of Ebay (yea I know, maybe that is the problem).  I have taken it apart about 5 times to get it quieter.  It is like my Isildur's Bane (shout out to Balrog21!).  I just got new coupler boxes for it so they can be the right height.  The ones that came with it were too low.   I don't know if how it runs is a problem with the one I got or if that is just how Plus' are ??
I will say that I do like the wheel sets on the Bachmanns I have.  Very good pickup!
