it isnt going to be a huge increase, just a little increase just to put a slight strain on the engines.

So what ratio? 3 inches per 3 feet? (that would cut it)
i dont know yet, the layout is only in the early planning stages....

I doublt Bachmann will EVER make a multiple engine thomas set because...

1)too overpriced!
2)kids would try to run both at once (note: this can cause the engines to crash)((not like they wouldnt do it with 2 regular engine ::)  ))
3) Bachmann would get enough people to buy it. People would already have the engines or not need the track
omg, TRY READING THE FIRST POST!!!! it says FANTASY it does not say oh lets see if bachmann WILL make them.  ::) ::)

Cool dude. If you are planning for all of those destinations to be on one layout,   you will need a pretty big layout. Probably around 5x10'. If you wish to see how i made my red branch line coaches, go onto my youtube channel. My account is Bluecoatscheesypoofs. Good luck dude.
i doubt i will need to have it that big! maybe knapford station will be on a large section and gordons hill/henrys tunnel on maybe 1 foot or 2 foot sections.

ALSO DO U AGREE WITH WHAT I SED ABOUT WITH OUT THE BRITTISH THE USA  MIGHT NEVER OF HAD STEAM TRAINS & THOMAS :)

It is to my understanding that the Americans invented the steam locomotive. The first steam engine in the world ran on the B&O line. I think I learned that at Steamtown, the B&O Museum, and many other places. But that may jsut be the first in the US, not the entire world.

I'm afraid that's only in the USA. The first full scale working railway steam locomotive was built by Richard Trevithick in the United Kingdom and, on 21 February 1804, the world's first railway journey took place as Trevithick's unnamed steam locomotive hauled a train along the tramway of the Penydarren ironworks, near Merthyr Tydfil in south Wales.

So yes, despite being British in it's initial design, I'd say ther was worldwide influences on the final designs of steam locomotives. Just look at the Union Pacific's Big Boy class, and you can see how advanced it was compared to British designs of the same vintage.

Jack

i was born 190 years and 2 days after that first run  ;D
sorry just had to say it!!  :P

I like the Spencer set. Him, his coach, and the Duke & Duchess would make a good, simple set.
yes it would be a good set :)

Thomas & Friends / my project exibition layout
February 16, 2011, 12:39:06 PM
i am planning on making an exibition layout based on parts key parts of the island of sodor. it will be mainly bachmann thomas items aswell as a couple of from hornby. the areas from sodor are knapford station, gordons hill and henry's tunnel. the line through these places will be double track and will go into a fiddle yard at the back. any trains like gordon's express will leave the fiddle yard go through knapford and up the hill, being banked by either toby or edward. the stock will be all the bachmann locos and rolling stock, hornby's murdoch, dart, stepney, oliver and some of the rolling stock (old slowcoach etc) also i plan to get some more annie and clarabel's to create rakes of red branchline coaches.
what do you guys think? :)

Thomas & Friends / Re: Price's
February 15, 2011, 02:39:00 PM
i live in the UK and the bachmann thomas range is so much cheaper than the hornby stuff. just recently hornby have announced murdoch for around £90 recomended retail price and the new character dart for £40, when dart is the same size of bill and ben!  :o
the hornby emily is around £70 but i recently bought the bachmann version WITH  the matching coaches for £64! edward is the same price as emily and i can get the bachmann version for £44.99!!
