Add me to the list also. I have bought 3 of the 44 ton and 2 had all 4 gears cracked.

Yes I have programmed many engines with the digitrax. Yes I am familiar with programming. I was finally able to program it with the 2 number address not with the 4 number address. I don't know if it can be programmed with a 4 number address. I used a computer and DecoderPro to program it back to a 2 number address. For anyone with a computer DecoderPro is a great program to use for programming the decoder.

I looked at the photos of your layout in photobucket. Nice layout. Could you tell me the colors of paint you used for the roads. Thanks

HO / Changed Address on 44 tonner but it will not run
January 06, 2012, 03:53:21 PM
I changed the address on my 44 ton to the engine number but it won't run and the headlight does not come on. I tired a reset (cv8 to 8) but no luck. It does run in DC mode. I use a gigitrax system. Any help would be appreciated. This is a Bachmann engine.

HO / Re: Track Cleaning Cars
July 21, 2011, 10:14:50 PM
I have the Miniatronics Elektrack and the CMX. The Elektrak does not do a very good job. The CMX is a tank car and you fill it with your choice of cleaning fluid. Personally I use Isoppropyl alcohol. It does a good job. With the tank car I usually have to clean the tracks every three days. Two weeks ago I made a track cleaning car that people have made for years. It consists of a piece of hardboard the has a rough side and a smooth side. I use two hex bolts that were quarter inch in diameter and a nut. I drilled two holes for the hex bolts and put on the nuts. Then I cut the hardboard a little wider than the track and glued it to the heads of the hex bolts. I run the boxcar all the time and I haven't had to use anything else to clean the track in over two weeks.

Thanks Richg the first link had a good one that I think will work. The second one I have dealt with before, but I didn't see anything that will work. The last link was the best so I emailed him with my problem. Thanks again

To RichG, I searched for about 2 hours and I found many links but no help. Many message boards I found a few people were asking where to find the motors for rivarossi and basically all answers were the same (you can't). I emailed Eurlok.com and they said they don't carry them and did not say where or if they are available. I need the newer motors not the old round ones. I think Jonathan is right in what he said. I asked on this board because Bachmann has a few that I listed that I could possibly use. The motor does not have to have the worm attached like on the original. I will call Bachmann and ask the size of the motors that I listed. At least with Bachmann they do have replacemen tparts. From what I understand with Rivarossi if something breaks you are out of luck. Thanks for the replies.

HO / Need a motor
January 31, 2011, 08:58:39 AM
I bought a  used Rivarossi 4-6-4. After running it for about an hour the motor burnt out so I am looking for a new one. I have emailed several places for a replacement and they said they don't have them. I have checked the parts section of this board and found three that could fit. The model numbers of the motors are 2-6-0 Model #565x-3875, 2-6-2 Model #515x-3875 and 2-8-0 Model #H11405. The size of the original motor was 33mm long, 20mm wide and 15mm high. Does anyone have one of these Locos with those motors and do they come close to the size I have listed. Thank you

I've had the same thing happen a few times with a digitrax decoder and it was a bad decoder. I recently sent back a TSC decoder with the same problem.

If you are planning on adding sound in the future go with the Kato. Digitrax has a sound decoder that is a drop in for the Kato. I put one in a Bachman F40 and it sounds great, but it wasn't an easy thing to do.

I don't know if this is the best, but I have one and it does a great job of cleaning the track. As far as the fluid I prefer acetone.
