It's just a hair over 9 mm.

Pictures of the Freightmaster trainset on this website show the old version with open pilots. Of course it's possible that the pictures haven't been updated. Maybe someone from Bachmann will chime in.

Bachmann doesn't seem to like standards. Every new loco they release seems to be a completely new/different design from the ground up.

I'm not really sure. As you say, it depends on if the wires are in the same relative position.

I do know that the wiring harness plug on the new 2-8-0 is different from what Bachmann has used in the past -

Seems like a wired sound decoder install in the tender wouldn't be too difficult. Bachmann includes instructions for removing the stock decoder and then wiring up a different one -https://www.bachmanntrains.com/home-usa/dwg/dwgs/N_BALDWIN_4-6-0_EXPLODE_DRAWING_N514X_(1).pdf

Not sure why anyone would want to do that. The newer version is so much better.

Sounds like the decoder is fried. If you want to test the motor, you could disconnect the orange and gray wires from the decoder board and apply current to them directly (using a 9v battery or whatever).

Old and new shells are the same. Only the internals changed.

I assume you mean EMD SD70? What are the locomotive brands?

Yes, that is correct.

Thanks, folks. Looks like the listings have been corrected now.

The list of features for the N scale DCC-Sound 2-8-0 states "detailed cab interior", however mine is not so equipped. I'm guessing this was a copy/paste error from the HO version's feature list?

The feature list also states "die-cast, fine-scale driver spokes" which I'm guessing is a copy/paste error as well (if the implication is that the spokes aren't cast right into the driver face).

Thanks,

I see a new DCC-Sound Dash-8 in that video. Hitting the stores soon?

Does the headlight stay on when it stops? Would help to know if it's a mechanical (binding) issue or an electrical issue.

I never trust anything on eBay to be "new". I'm talking about regular online vendors or hobbyshops.
