To Gold Star :  Your EZ  Command  is a basic  DCC controller  it has no facilities to  Change  CV s . It is time for you to get information about the systems you are trying to control . Also  EZ command does not allow a computer to  access your controller  what so ever .  Sorry about your lack of experience with technology .

Exactly  How old is this train ?   What  axels  on which  loco  or  cars are broken ?   Parts on very old  equipment  are exceedingly  hard to find ? John2.

HO / Re: Switches for the e-z track turn out

Bil123 : I assume that you are making a crossover with the two turnouts , if so yes you can wire both turnouts to one switch . you will either be going straight through or going across so it makes sense to have only one switch to  throw. John2.

Photography Like every other endeavor takes practice . You have to be able to visualize  what you want to show  and what techniques  will allow you to get the results you want . With digital camera equipment you  can go through your  images  much more easily than with  film based images where you had to wait for development  and printing  or  development and projection .  Images  captured  to Photo-CD s allow you the capability  of viewing your photos  on both Computer Monitor & also  Flat screen Televisions .  John2.

reminds me of the electric CTA buses  we used to have in the Fifties & early  Sixties and also the trolley poled elevated trains that ran outside of the city like the Skokie Swift on the far northside .  Those would spark from time to time . I wonder if those will make a comeback  again to further reduce pollution in the cities.

General Discussion / Re: EZ Track Rails
January 17, 2017, 06:46:54 PM
To  Nightwing  :  Since  crossings  have to be electrically  insulated from each direction of travel   and wired around to have continuity in the same direction ,  I doubt you will  be  able to  remove the  rails from the crossing  .  Doing so would destroy the crossing electrically .    Everything can be disassembled  but restoring
it to be functional  is a totally  different  problem . John2.

General Discussion / Re: Don't buy me a train
January 08, 2017, 08:11:42 PM
I am one of the worst people to buy  Xmas & Birthday gifts for . I have a vast assortment  of hobbies and /or vices .   I  into all sorts  of tools  both wood working
and metal working , and also gardening .   I am interested  in archery ,  fencing  , assorted shooting sports  and  used to go camping & fishing . I loved to bowl though I haven't done any lately , my bag is still packed .   I was an amateur  photographer & had my own darkroom in Chicago .   I am fond of music and collected  records , tapes &  CDs  .  Had an awesome sound system  & started  collecting   Video tape , DVDs & now Blue-ray Discs . I do admit to being a compulsive reader  and also a model builder.
I made the mistake of telling someone that I had a  "  deprived childhood  " ; in that I never had an Electric Train  as a youth .  One of my sisters found out , and  bought me a " Harry  Potter " train set and that  started   HO  railroading  for me . I now have  a substantial   number  of trains  &  accessories  to work on.
I insist  that people should not purchase  anything  for my  hobbies  & let me buy my own TOYS .  I am running literally out of room to play with my toys

most  analog /  DC  engines  originally came with  installed  "smoke generators "  but for the most part these are unrealistic in comparison  with the smoke emissions of proto-typical steam engines and tend to cause a mess  in rooms where they  are used.  That said . Bachmann does sell  engines  that have them. Check out the Walthers Reference Catalog or their website  for manufacturers who make them .   Pray tell why do you want to pollute the air you breath with noxious chemicals ?  John2.
