General Discussion / Nebraska Zephyr
July 26, 2011, 09:26:37 PM
Does anybody know who currently owns the cars of the former Burlington Nebraska Zephyr ?  I was in the shop-building about  5 o'clock this afternoon when I heard on odd train horn , I went to look outside and saw the last couple of streamlined cars of the  "Nebraska  Zephyr"  heading eastbound.   I live on Railroad street and Ritz Road in Marengo , IL   and had seen  the  Zephyr  heading  westbound  a couple of weeks previously. The tracks across the Street are currently operated by Union Pacific ,  formerly Chicago Northwestern , and are normally used for freight  . They service the Belvidere  Chrysler assembly Plant and other industries . I Have Seen some of UP 's   Heritage  Fleet  run through from time to time .  I am also about three or four miles west of the Illinois Railway  Museum   and  the track is adjacent  to their lines .  John  II.

HO / Informational Literature
September 28, 2008, 02:29:14 PM
I am in the process of filing all of the information  I have on model railroading equipment . I am trying to find out what literature was packed in the Harry Potter Train Set and the Overland Express Train Set . I have the Mark I E-Z track Manual , the trainset Assembly Instructions  and wonder what else was packed with the set .  I thought there was information on the Locos and Cars with part numbers  but can't find either set.  Can you help me Bachmann or any other forum members ?  Thanks  John II.

HO / Horn- Hook Couplers
September 11, 2008, 09:46:28 PM
I just started changing over some of the old couplers to Knuckle couplers. I bought some Kadee Couplers  and  some  Bachmann Couplers . The easiest to use so far were the # 18 Kadee NEM mounts for one group of cars. and the  Bachmann Couplers for the Aethern Box cars and the Roundhouse Coal Hoppers. As I was going through some of the Old Bachmann Locos and freight cars , I noticed that they had a variation in the size of the coupler mounting  hole and  coupler .  How many variations were there in that style of Coupler  ?

HO / Old Chicago Railroad Stations
July 21, 2008, 09:01:52 PM
Does anyone know if any body make HO scale models  of Chicago Union Station or the Chicago Northwestern Station ? All of these Stations have been built over their air rights and are no longer visible except for the main house of the Chicago Union Station and I heard some rumor that they were considering adding more stories to that stucture . Considering that the European Manufacturers have a good number of stations in their catalogs , one would think that American Companies would have more.  John  II.
