I have an old bachman train set still in boxes never used. The postal package date on it is dated 1984. I got 51ft box car, flat car w/logs, ge u36b diesel, quad hopper nd/load, wood reefer gerber, 43100702 caboose all ho scale. Also have track power pack ,bridge tresel, foam tunnel, post and markers . so this is 32 years old dose anyone have an idea of what they are worth.
The bad news is that the set is 32 two years out of date. The good news is, well there is no really good news. I hope you did not just recently buy it. :(

I agree on the flex shaft. It lets you get into tighter spaces and cleaner track cuts without the tool body in the way.

If the only goal of using the tool is to make track cuts, why not just buy and use a Razor Saw?
Trying to keep the track from flexing with a razor saw is a real pain.

Here is what I use - a flex shaft moto-tool. Dremel makes a flex shaft for their hand held tool as well but I like the dedicated flex shaft set up better.

I have 7 Styrofoam boxes with  ezy track and some trains in them. They all have numbers on them ( example ) 14-00432-002

Most times after a item is not made any more and not around to be sold as a new retail item, most manufactures and stores will remove it from their listings.
No use showing things that are not available.

Do you think that you may not have something properly hooked up?  I say this bc after you got the "good" (2nd) one home, you again report problems with your controller. :'(

I also wonder if you are not doing some thing wrong. They are good until you hook them up, then, poof! If so, then do you have a short on the track?

Did you hook up the new one exactly as the person in the store did? Is the new one the same make as the old power pack?
You state AC power output that has nothing to do with running HO engines.

Desertdweller: he keeps talking about AC power out put. Why, if he is only using the DC positive and DC negative terminals?  ???

I don't think so, Ken.
I would say the problem is in the power pack.

Whoops, I have to agree with you, Les. Darn brain not working at that time.

Are you sure that you have the DC output going to the track and not the AC.
Wiring to the AC output, which is for accessories, will make the engine do as you describe as AC is a steady non adjustable output.

Bachmann has announced the E-Z Command Smart Interface for the E-Z Command Control Center.

Click Here for product information.  Availability and price to be determined.

Finally, IMO, a very useful addition for the E-Z Command.

Are you using DC transformer or a DCC system to run it?

that's interesting
Yes it is, and they have stated that it does work. I guess it is the same as when I have bounced the IR signal from my TV remote off the wall to the receiver on the telly.

yes I have the Dynamis system

There are people that have erected mirrors that will reflect the IR signal to the receiver.

I agree with those who find these warnings to be rather silly.  If I am not mistaken, I believe bottled water in CA also carries the same warning ::)

those bottles contain dihydrogen monoxide which has been known to corrode metals and suffocate people among other hazards.

As the vast majority of people never read the instruction, labels and warnings that come with items, they miss that almost all products, have same kind of warning that keeps the manufacture/distributor/seller, from being sued due to some thing going wrong if later on after more hits the lens cracks.
Such as high quality paintball goggle systems, that say the lens needs to be changed if hit with even one paintball.

Seems like a lot of good agreement on what to use. We all have our favorites.
I forgot to mention that I also use a product called, Amazing GOOP, the household version, for those jobs on the layout that only need a very small dab of adhesive. It will also glue plastics together that other glues will not.
It also works great for loose soles on shoes ;)
