I have to agree that On30 would look really good with all the curves.
You don't so much as need tunnels, as needing view blocks, such as trees, little hills, and buildings.
I had 4 tunnels on mine at the start and converted 3 of them to just small ridges to block parts of the trains.
This also made it much easier to get to a derail. And with just one short four car tunnel (in the center back of the layout) less aggravation.
Of course this is just take on it.

Great find and a great buy.

That does not mean it does not need cleaning.
In the manufacturing processes some times the track is just produced, but not cleaned.
Is this DC? If so many engines need a higher voltage. That is normal.

It helps when every thing is good.

Are you talking about wire only? Or wire and conecters that go with it?

Love the NorCal weather! My grandfather never owned an a/c unit his entire life.

Well here in Lake County it is more like high desert climate. Can be below freezing at night in the winter and over 100 during the days in the middle of summer. But one swamp cooler and a fan or two works just fine.

I need to get a label maker and this model seems about right. Being a BROTHER product it may just do.
Got to see if one of the stores has it in stock.

Even the big railroads install switches on curves when it is needed.

My layout is in a large not insulated and not climate controlled building.
So for me, model railroad season is any time of day, when I fell like working on or running trains on my layout, and it is not to hot or not to cold. 
Fall, Winter, Spring, or summer are the same here in NorCal.

I'm not a payed member and can enlarge the pictures. Just view image and then use the Control + to make it larger or open in a photo program.

We have 3 kinds of oaks, 2 types of pines where I live and none really have a real world log look to their small branches.
Though we do have Redbuds which give great looking logs that look like the plastic ones WounderBear shows.

I suggest that you just wonder the streets or yards of friends and see what looks good.
