Has something to do with the back EMF intensity.
I believe CV 212.

I tried the same with the 2-4-4-2, CV 39 to 128.
Nothing happening.
I also tried to overwrite the excisting programming on function 7 , CV41 to dim (16)
The fuction does not change.
My suspicion is that the functions values are fixed!

Have a look at this PDF.

On30 / Re: add on sound for the 2-6-6-2 ?
April 06, 2013, 07:46:27 AM
Leo , i also have a few 2-6-6-2's with no sound and one with sound.
The sound decoder is a different pcb then the drive decoder.
So you will have to replace the complete pcb.
The connector look a lot like the sound plugin connector on the newer models but is inverted.
The problem with the sound decoder is that there is next to none support.
Soundtraxx seemes to have lost their documentation.
My advise is to go for a Tsunami lightsteam decoder ,TSU 1000 or 750.
You can adjust the chuff sound  to an articuleted locomotive.

I have the same problem.
A software bug maybe?

Contacting Soundtraxx will not help.
I contacted them the other day and they seemed to have lost their CV list for the 2-6-6-2.
OOPS!!

To clarify , i'm writing about the 0n30 2-6-6-2.

My compliments to Mr. B.
They made a very beautifull well detailed model.

On30 / 2-4-4-2 Dynamic Digital Exhaust funtion
February 05, 2013, 06:34:57 AM
Or better stated, the lack of DDE.
I had a word with Soundtraxx and they tell me that because of the split motor/sound decoder it was not possible to incorporate this feature.
The PIC chips in the decoder and the soundboard can't communicate to each other.
Nothing but praise for the model but this is a big minus!

On30 / Re: On30 2-4-4-2 minimum radius
February 05, 2013, 06:22:59 AM
It's the same as with my 2-6-6-2's.
Take out the steampipe at the front of the train , located under the smoke box and fix it to the front and snip of the connector to the smokebox.
Then you can run curves with a radius of 37.5 cm.

On30 / Re: 2-4-4-2 light question
February 05, 2013, 06:15:54 AM
Sorry Mr. B i have to disagree.
There is a steam generator present and a wire running towards the frontlight, representing an electrical connection.
Obvious conclusion......electric lighting.

To switch the lights.
CV33=1
CV34=2
To incorporate the steamgenerator sound the CV's should be 65 and 66
Should do the trick.
And yes, the choice of power leds is a bit to much!
I don't have to switch on the room lights to see where i am  ;D
I will have to experiment with a resistor in between the lighting wiring.

I didn't do it under a caboose but i have some experience with those trucks.
I used spacers to get up to hight and glued the coupler housings to the trucks.
I had to do that because otherwise the trucks hit the coupler housings of the standard Bachmann frame.
Works fine.
