General Discussion / Re: E-Z track systems
December 29, 2007, 12:00:29 AM
I used both tracks on my layout for three years , and I no longer notice the difference in colour. Clean your track and you will find there is no difference in train speed. In real life all tracks do not look the same.

My layout is very small and all curves are 4.0' . I had  thought of purchasing
a C16.

The Roundhouse 4-4-0 is anice running engine with good sound. It is sparse in detail. It will cost less to add some detail than it will to add sound.

HO / Re: Steam Locos & EZ Track

I had similar problem with a 4-8-2 . I found that the turnout  had a slight twist in it which lifted the loco slightly. The problem was solved by fastening the turnout tightly to the base eliminating the twist.

If you look at the pictures posted on the Bachman website you will find the the side rods  of 90047 and 90059 do not have the side rod  detail that   the loco sold as the annivesary special has . The loco that I purchased as an annivesary special that I purchase about a year ago is a no.10 and the ones currently being sold are no. 10. Maybe Mr. BAchman can give us the story.

If you are using EZ TRack the turnout may have a slight twist in it which raises the frog and aportion of the track. Check it through with a straight edge .The solution is to fasten down the turnout so that is flat to the base.

The loco in the set and the Anniversary set are not the same. I have both. The anniiversary loco has much more detail .The drive rods and connecting rods are much more detailed and are metal as opposed to plastic.

HO / Prairie 2-6-2
December 21, 2007, 12:32:00 AM
I am looking for a Prairie 2-6-2  but the only one I seem to find is the std model mfg by Bachman .Is there anything out there with DCC and sound or DCC or something good enough to convert.

I am an easy track fan as you can see from some of my postings. I sure hate laying track on cork roadbed. We should have a forum on EZ Track and the Atlas version.

The EZtrack system is not exclusively for DCC All the trackage will run with DC. For a beginner who wants to try DCC inexpensively and simply EZ Command is the answer.
One section of my layout is DC using EZ track and the other section is DCC using EZ track with some Flex track structures spliced in. All works well.

HO / Re: Which DCC System to get

Buttons 1 controls the bell , button 2 controls the horn . This works on all my sound equipped locos and I have locos by three different mfg's.

You cannot reprogramme your decoder with EZ Command.Take your loco's over to the hobby shop you bought them at and have them adjust the speeds on their track . Either that or get a friend to do it.

HO / Re: Bachmann 44596 Hobby Track Pack--good deal?
December 18, 2007, 05:10:40 PM
Before you buy a package deal you should decide how your layout is going to look. You may end up with pieces you will not use. I would check with Trainworl/Trainland  ,Standard Hobbies , Wholesale Hobbies before I bought anything. You may find that that the individual pricing may be cheaper than a package.
