:DGREETINGS!! :o I sent them three steam locomotives with a money order for the required $45. on January 30, with a signature required, so that I would know when they received it.
I've heard nothing, and received no card saying that they had received it (the package). Monday, I called and got to talk to no one, but yesteday (Tuesday), I finally got Ginny (I think), and she told me that they were still working on January's mail, and that it may still be at the Post Office. (She asked for my area code (28792), and went to check- then came back and said that!)
Today, I may go to the Post Office and ask how this thing works!!
She said that I should just be patient, they are trying to catch up!!
                                                                                            THANX!!

:DGREETINGS!! ???So, Joe, IF I were to operate this circuit WITHOUT the BR, in REVERSE, would that simply mean that I wouldn't have any lights in my cars, or would I blow something up?
Also, if I wired some cars with opposite polarities, couldn't I have some that light in one direction, and others that light up in the other?(That would be interesting!)
                                                                                              THANX!!

:DGREETINGS!! ??? RICH, do you mean that if I am doing DC, and am running my circuit from a POLARIZED SOURCE, I can dispense with the BRIDGE RECTIFIER part of the circuit?? :o

:DGREETINGS!!! :oATTENTION, YOU OLD GEEZERS!! I'm only 56, so if you would be so kind as to leave all your TRAIN STUFF to me, in your WILL, I'd sure appreciate it!! :-*

HO / Re: 2 Locos on one train
February 07, 2009, 10:46:20 PM
:DGREETINGS!! Joe, I'm sorry, but many of my locos do not follow the "right hand rule". (Perhaps they were manufactured before the rule became the rule?) :o
At any rate, if he should have such a problem that one of his engines is "left-handed" ;), then he must tear into it and switch the wires!

:DGREETINGS!! Jack, if one has a "knack" for GRAMMAR, it would do well if that one had a "knack" for SPEELLING!!(At least the word "grammar"!!) :o

If two DC locomotives are wired to comply with the standards, then it is impossible to run them both in opposite directions, with both locos moving forward. Even if you have separate loops, both connected and powered by the same controller, one locomotive will run forward, the other will run backwards.

As Rich pointed out, a loco not wired in compliance with the standards requires switching the motor wires in order to run two or more in consist, regardless of orientation.

:DThis is much like the definition of "NORMAL"!! What is "normal" to one may be completely "abnormal" to another, but, then again, that's what makes this hobby, as well as AMERICA so wonderful and unique! I can still be "WEIRD", and yet, "NORMAL"!!
My trains that run in opposite directions have not been tampered with nor changed... they came from the manufacturer that way! Were they not manufactured according to "STANDARD"? I don't know. When was that STANDARD adapted? Some of them are POCHER and TYCO, so that would automatically say that they are a few days old; others are ATHEARN and AHM. I'm not sure if any of my BACHMANN'S run different ways, but they well may. Even if they are made in CHINA, this is still the good ol' U.S. of A.!! ;D
                                                                                            THANX!!

Repeating my previous comments, we all have a mindset that the position of the direction switch is relative to direction of motion.  True, with DC power, we attach the track wires so it does work that way, but if we then decide to run the opposite direction, the direction switch no longer matches (to our eye) the motion unless we switch track wires.

If I ran strictly DC, I would install another switch on the controller labeled R and L for right hand or left hand running, to make the direction switch always visually "match" my desired running direction.

???GREETINGS!!  :oI'm confused!! Is this to say that the engines (note plurality) that operate in the opposite direction were not manufactured to NMRA STANDARDS?
As I remember, there were two trains on THE ADAMS FAMILY that ran in opposite directions and it made for a good scene in several of their pro 8)grams!
At any rate, I do enjoy the fact that some of my engines operate in opposite directions!! ;D

:DGREETINGS!! ???Bob, please excuse me, but I have somewhat of a "problem" with the "right-rail-rule": Some of my engines go one way, others go the other way, so how does one determine which is the "right" rail? ???(On some engines, would not the "right" rail be the opposite rail on other engines??) :-[

:DGREETINGS!!  :( It's just not a good idea to send CASH. PERIOD! If you'll look, I posted a thread explaining my delimma in mailing a MONEY ORDER. It is "somewhere", but the party to whom it was mailed has not received it. Hopefully, it will turn up. With a check or a m.o. from a reputable company, it would not have been a problem; however, with this company, as well as CASH, it is a problem. I will not send CASH and future money orders will be POSTAL MONEY ORDERS! :o

:DGREETINGS!!  :oOkay, I'm guilty, as charged!! Existing on a VERY tight budget, I can't spend a lot, but I really enjoy the train shows. As much as any other reason, I like to go and LOOK! :o There's all kinds of ideas represented, and "new" ways of doing thigs! For the most part, very rarely do I buy new. I like to get "junk" for "nothing", then take it home and either fix it or use the parts to fix one like it.
But, looking at the displays and sets, one can get all kinds of ideas to use one the "home" layout!(i.e. one layout-HO- had a carnival with an "n" guage train being used as a "ride"!)

:DGREETINGS!! NEVER send CASH in the mail!! :o Yes, make it payable to BACHMANN INDUSTRIES, and you might even want to "certify" it, so that you'll get a receipt confirming delivery! ;)
