General Discussion / handrails...Mr. B?
December 30, 2009, 11:10:25 AM
;)GREETINGS!! This question is specifically directed to Mr. B, but anyone may feel free to comment.  :o
I, and probably others, have several engines with broken or lost handrails. Is it possible to order just handrails from BACHMANN? What about horns, or other little "add-on" parts? One particular engine is, I think, a B70-3, and it seems that the handrails are made into the body, is it possible to order the body? ::)
Final question (for now): Is there a certain number of these parts that can be ordered within a certain postage rate, or is there a specified shipping charge?
THANX!!  ;)  -And HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!! ;D

HO / HELP!!
June 02, 2009, 10:31:07 PM
;)GREETINGS, ALL!! ???Once upon a time, several weeks ago, Iade a comment in another thread concerning the fact that I don't see layouts that would allow that trains might go the opposite direction on the same track, and I never got back to read the reply :-\; now, I can't find the thread!! >:(
:oSO... Can a layout be made, and would it be practical to allow a train to go east or west on the same track?

General Discussion / MR. B!!
March 12, 2009, 09:22:03 PM
;DGREETINGS!! ;) Mr. B, being in NEW YORK, how did you get to be a representative for BACHMANN, on the COMPUTER and at TRAIN SHOWS?
Are you paid for that priviledge, including but not limited to the hours that you spend delving through these sometimes silly, sometimes not so silly threads?
Do you ever go to BACHMANN INDUSTRIES, at home and/or abroad?
    JUST WONDERING!!
     What about the ADMINISTRATOR?

General Discussion / HELP!! EBAY "SITUATION"
January 13, 2009, 11:42:32 AM
GREETINGS!! ;D About 3-4 weeks ago, I won an auction on Ebay(A nice train!). The final cost was $30.85, so I went and got a money order and sent it off (Dec. 22). Well, the person on the other end never got it. I learned that it will costs $10 to trace the MO, but they can only tell you if it has been cashed. They do not do stop payments or do refunds. What should I do?
            1. Do the trace just to see if it has been cashed.
            2. Swallow my loss and get another MO (From the POST OFFICE!!).
            3. Just forget the whole thing!
            4. Any other suggestions? ???
                                                                                            THANX!!

HO / DANA CORPORATION PROMOTIONAL TRAIN
December 23, 2008, 07:20:20 PM
:DGREETINGS, ALL!! I just bought a DANA PROMOTIONAL TRAIN that was produced in the late '90's off Ebay, and I'm wondering if anyone can offer an estimate as to the value. The ad said that there were only 1000 made, though another ad said 3000! I used to deliver (truck axles) to Dana, in Henderson, KY., and I know that they were going through some bad financial times then, so I'm not sure that this train would have any value. They were closing plants all over the U.S.!! :-[
Anyway, any help offered will be sincerely appreciated!!
                                                                                                 THANX!!

HO / need help with IDENTIFICATION...
November 16, 2008, 12:10:44 PM
:)GREETINGS!! I'm finally getting around to TRYING to do a complete inventory of my "stuff", and I've run into a problem! Well, actually THREE problems:
1)How many different kinds of engines are there? (I've got over a hundred, but some are the same kind!)                      8)
2)Is there a source where one can go to identify engines? (What is the difference in F3, F7, or F9?)                    ::)
3)How can one idenify a manufacturer if it's not marked?         :-\
That's all the questions that I've run into thus far, but if you can anticipate others, feel free to answer them!!
                                                                              THANX!!

General Discussion / LIGHTING in "TRAIN ROOM"
November 05, 2008, 12:29:11 PM
:oMy "TRAIN ROOM" is downstairs in half of a family room, and it is DARK down there! Since I have trains on the wall, it would be difficult to put up lights, and I can't figure a way to put the lights in the ceiling without running the wires up the wall!Does anyone have any ideas?

HO / WOODEN BOXCARS
December 20, 2007, 10:40:16 AM
Is there any easy way to identify WOODEN BOXCARS, other than scratching them? I've got some OLD cars, and I think some of them may be of wood, but I'm not sure!(Also, most of them are needing a part or two!!

HO / ENGINE WARRANTEE
October 27, 2007, 10:45:08 PM
MR. B, Please! The last time that I sent in some engines for repair, I was told that they were non-repairable, and would be replaced (at a cost of $10./each).The lady said that I could change roadnames, if I so desired, but only to a roadname that was in production at that time. When I asked what roadnames were available, she sounded a bit perturbed and "put out", but she went and checked.
I have three engines that I am planning to send in for repairs; if these engines require replacement, can you tell me what engines are in production so that I might change roadnames, and how much longer these will be in production? A friend told me that "BOSTON & MAINE" is in production at this time. (I'd really like one of those!) Is that true?
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!

HO / NEW (OLD) TRAIN SHOP!!
October 17, 2007, 08:08:57 PM
Folks, I've finally found my friend, Wes, and it turns out that I had his last name wrong!! (It's "LAEL", not "RAEL"!!) There was a train show in Hendersonville (NC) last weekend, and Wes was there, with the GOOD NEWS that he had opened a train shop in OLD FORT, NC!!(37 E. MAIN)
It's the same shop that used to be at SMILEY'S FLEA MARKET in FLETCHER, NC!! Their new phone number is: (828) 668-9434. It's on I-40, at EXIT 72, then north to downtown. Turn right at the "t" intersection, and it's on the left!! :DWhatever the drive, I'm sure that you will be glad that you made the trip!!He has told me that this store is much larger than the one in Fletcher, but I've not yet had an opportunity to go and see for myself!!
If you get to go before I do, pllease post on here what you think of it!!
                                                                                   THANX!!

HO / roadnames and new catalog
June 06, 2007, 09:41:31 AM
The last time that I sent some trains in to be repaired, they elected to replace them. I asked if I could change roadnames and was told that I could, but the lady that I talked to did not know what engines were being made at that time, so she had to go find out what was available. She said that
I should get a catalog to find out what was available (since it was so much trouble for her to go check!). I suggested that she keep a list of what is available at that time. When do the new catalogs come out, and what engines are availble at present, should I send in some engines and have to have them replaced?

HO / Who made this PART?
May 20, 2007, 08:56:42 PM
??? Why are most manufacturers ashamed of the equipment that they bring into the U.S. and sell to us? It is marked "Made in Hong Kong", but it seems that if they had any pride in it, then, SURELY, they would put their name on it! I'm glad to see that BACHMANN does, and the now-defunct TYCO, but how do you recognize other manufacturers' products (special reference being made to engines)?
Also, is BACHMANN totally American-made, or is it imported, and, if so, is it marked thusly?
                                                                                           THANX!!

General Discussion / TRAIN SHOW in WAYNESVILLE, NC
February 21, 2007, 11:38:32 AM
Is anybody going to the train show in Waynesville, NC? I've tried to contact them via the e-mail addresses listed in their MODEL RAILROADER add, and nothing works! Are they still having the show? General Discussion / Is "PROGRESS" inevitable??
February 07, 2007, 02:07:54 PM
Will everything go to DCC, eventually? Is it possible to "merge" DC  and DCC on one layout? Because of finances, I can't put decoders in my 50+ engines. Will BACHMANN's warranty eventually return a DCC-ON-BOARD for a non-repairable non-DCC?                                 ::)
