If you can find a used QSI, they are great (I have a lot for myself and will program them for anyone free).

The Phoenix is OK, it has some limitations, but mostly power, and the Big Hauler should be no issue.

I would not buy the Digitrax DG583 (I think that is the number)

The TCS Wowsound will work, the early versions were not great, I think they have improved the firmware.

I believe you should be able to buy one of the OEM SoundTraxx "quasinamis" that are derived from the Tsunami.

I would think so, but you will probably have to use autochuff... or wire the electronic sensors to the Revo board.

I agree, that and possibly the multi pin connection between the loco and tender.

I like it has the optical chuff sensors in it now, synchronizing the chuffs exactly will be a breeze, no more unreliable physical contacts.

I'm wondering if that brown coupler will be black in production...

Yes the PNP with the socket in the tender must have a multi-wire connector, just too much "stuff" to connect to.

Well, we are now waiting on seeing a real production one..

Ted, I know you are exercising extreme restraint, you waited an entire day until you asked again  :D

From what I am told, the Bachmann display was on a table at the Star Hobby booth. A friend asked about the socket in the new Big Hauler, and they were not aware of it.

I guess that's what happens if you don't represent your product yourself.

I completely understand Bill, our nomenclatures differ because yours are chassis specific, and I look at it for the total feature content, although early models were mostly predicated on the geartrain changes.

I get ya!

Did you use the BBS embed code with my links?

That's the way, I was trying attachments....

Since most people track the versions as version number or generation number I will call it gen 7.... with the PNP socket as this is a big improvement.

As I said Bill, you can see by the links, they reference YOUR emails, which of course only you have access to.

Ted sent me a couple more pictures:

https://elmassian.com/images/stories/motivepower/bachmann/big_hauler/7th_gen/1.jpg

https://elmassian.com/images/stories/motivepower/bachmann/big_hauler/7th_gen/2.jpg

https://elmassian.com/images/stories/motivepower/bachmann/big_hauler/7th_gen/3.jpg

all these pictures are on my "Big Hauler" page, but the 7th Gen is at the bottom of the page.

(It's about impossible to upload pictures here, the file size restriction says 192k, but then 128k, and then it "broke" saying the buffer was full...)

I cannot get any of the links to work....

If you want you can email me, or I can add folder to my dropbox and invite you to mine... then I will post them on my site and reference the links.

The links you show seem to imply that they are from your mail system, and only you can see them.

hah, I thought all the docs were the 1st gen, but looks like they are all 2nd gen.

So lucky!

Thanks again, Greg

update: loco fixed, the small contacts in the truck did not properly engage the contacts in the swivel plate.... just bending the 4 contacts out so they better contacted fixed it.... maybe it ran at the factory, but this is the first time it has been run since purchase some years ago.
