Thanks for the reply Stan. I think you have helped me here. I have been unsure about the last two connections on the DCC sound board on the K27. These are the last two of the min eight connections you mentioned. Ground on the card is connected to ground on the DCC GND terminal , there is one more connection on the card that is marked as + common function, I am unsure where this should go on the K-27 board. Should it go to DCC o/p + or should it go to Train Bus + ? (What is Train Bus ?) My K-27s are early ones , the wiring diagram is G830X IS009.

I don't want to make any error and wreck the DCC card as they are quite expensive over here !

Thanks for the reply Stan. I waiting for a reply from Soundtraxx as well. The TSU-4400 is a DCC sound decoder so it  has,  I think, to be wired between the motor and the pickups. I fitted a Thomas G scale with the same sort of board that Bachmann supplied and that worked ok on DC as we havn't converted the club  G scale Thomas layout to DCC yet. I had to run the motor wires and the pick ups to the DCC board. So far I have tried both ways on the K-27.

I think the problem may be trying to run the DCC card on analog only. I'll see what advice Soundtraxx come with.  I read somewhere that the K27 isn't the easiest loco to run a DCC sound car on. Sometimes I feel the hobby has become a bit too "technical" and I miss the good old large scale pioneering days 26 years ago !

Hi, can anyone give me some tips with the installation of a Tsunami2 4400 DCC sound board. I am having some problems and need some help. My plan was to get some sounds first and convert to DCC or battery  power at a later date. I know I won't get the full range of effects with analog but if I can just get some sounds like the earlier Sierra fitted locos I have I (and my grandson) will be happy!

I am using the connection card from my C-19 in the dummy DCC sockets in the K-27and have connected the Tsunami to Rail L&R, Motor + and -, speaker + and - and ground. When I power up I get a steam loco idling sound, the  card blue light comes on but the loco doesn't move, no power to the motor I guess. The loco works fine if I plug the Dummy DCC card back in.  The Tsunami must be missing an input bit apart from the functions I cannot see which. Is there any one that can help me.

Hi from Norway! I am about to fit a SoundTraxx DCC sound board in a couple of K-27s and a C-19. I want to use the existing tender speaker mount (3") but I'm having a problem to find this type of speaker (8 ohms 3 watts) I'd prefer to use the existing mounting & screw fasteners rather than trying to adapt it to fit a smaller speaker. Anyone found one that fits ok ?

Hi I have purchased 8 Thomas sound boards, both for grandson's Thomas and for my local club's Thomas & friends locos that we use on our Large Scale ehibition layout here in Bergen Norway. I need some info that is not in the rather sparse instructions. Can anyone help?
Where inside the locos should the speaker be attached ?
What diameter of speaker should I use ?
Where should the board be placed ?
A picture of the inside of a Thomas with a factory installed sound board with speaker would be a big help. Any other tips would be appreciated ! Thanks !

I also have noticed the "butt sagging" on my K27s. I changed out the springs on the trailing axle with stronger ones that I think came from an Accucraft C-19 tender.

This has improved the look of the locomotive from the side and I think she runs better.

I would say include these other ranges. I'm sure these will have different variations later on and I'm also sure there will be modellers in the future that will be grateful you took the tome to include these series. I have a Thomas collection Even though I am also a 1:20,3 RGS fan. I know a lot of "mature" Large Scalers that have also a sizeable Thomas collection ! Keep up the good work !

I hope poor old large scale Toby won't be without his beloved Henrietta too long  ! It would be a shame if she never appeared ! Anyone know if she will arrive one day ?

Great idea Barry  I hope you can come up with a simple fix. Just want to say that I would be interested in an upgrade for the first generation Gandy Dancer. I have one I run at our yearly exhibition here in Norway and it is very popular. I have managed to patch this one up over the years by pinning the broken small axle gears and making a new drive belt by slicing a HO scale traction tire in two ! However I don't think it will hold up much longer !

I have bought the Large scale Thomas, Percy, James plus some coaches & trucks  for our large scale exhibition layout here in Norway. We run the models at two public exhibitions each year. Many of our young visitors have asked when Toby & Henrietta will be coming ! Maybe Bachmann should consider producing both Toby & Duck in the near future as I would have thought the Thomas chassis could be the basis for these models.

These large models have caused a lot of interest over here and I hope they will help sow the seed of interest for the next generation of model train enthusiasts.

This looks really good. You did a great job with this. It looks just like the photos I have seen of Goose # 1 after the box was fitted. I'll have to have a look at this kit. Was the kit well made and easy to mount afterwards ?

I have some suggestions for additions for the Thomas large scale range: A closed goods wagon and a "Guards van" both with removable roof (more "play value" than the tank wagons),  Toby & Henrietta (A wish from my 14 y.o. daughter!) I must admit that even I have become "addicted" to these excellent Thomas models.
