Of the six sites I visit regularly outside of Bachmann, including the Atlas forum and Facebook, only one, FreeCycle (a Yahoo site) does not require the compatibility button. So it's more of an IE anomaly than an anomaly in all those websites. I'm running WinXP sp3 with IE8.

I have five of these boxcars and look forward to making them more realistic with your illustrated instructions. Another no-cost way to add to my rolling stock I have an IHC William Mason and a 1980's Mantua General.

My McAfee av recently expired but it had never given me any warnings about the Bachmann site. I know the warning box you're talking about. And I almost never get any spam.

Well that's interesting I see they have some DCC loco's available as new items. Formerly they had only DCC ready. When I heard about the IHC/Mehano closings I bought several of their steamers and noted that of two similar locos, one's box said "Made in Slovenia" and the other had a sticker over that which matched the box's graphics and said "Made in China."

I bought one of their SD24's in B&O passenger paint. It is a beautiful, well detailed shell, but underneath is a cheap plastic frame and mechanism which is unpleasantly noisy and uncharacteristic of the quiet, smooth running models they had made previously. This is the only diesel they have been selling for quite awhile. Must have been an early sign of troubles at the company. I like it as it is a great looking model, and I got it for cheap. I'm hoping to put in a better motor some day.

That steam engine dates from the early 1900's so it would be matched with the smaller cars, i.e. the 40' box cars but not the 52' box cars.

You have a correct caboose, and you already have tank and hopper cars. Have you ever been on a tourist railroad with a steam engine? They are a lot of fun I have to have a tourist train or two on my layout. Bachmann makes large modern passenger cars that would be very inappropriate for your 0-6-0, however Bachmann makes two types of tourist cars that would look neat with two or three behind your loco.

And remember as Yampa Bob used to say, "It is your railroad. Enjoy it." You would only be limited by the number of cars your engine can pull and the amount of track you have. Doesn't mean, of course that you have to run all your cars at the same time Hope this is helpful. Please ask any more questions you have. Folks here on this forum will help.

That's the one good thing about the much maligned talgo truck mounted coupler. On my small layout the talgo equipped cars will couple even on 18" curves. The couplers are aligned with the trucks which are at an angle which is the tangent to the curve at the center of the trucks. The two centers may be only a couple of inches apart so the two tangents are very close to alignment.

With body mounted couplers, the couplers are aligned with the curve tangent at the center of the car. Those tangents are two half car lengths, i.e. one car length apart and the angles are significantly different so the couplers are not aligned.

I have found everything I used to look for, however I have one serious problem. (I'm using MS IE8 on Win XP) The links at the top of the page, Product information etc... Used to be I could right click on those links and open them in a new tab. This does not work with the new forum setup. Now you can only left click on those links and open them while having to leave the forum behind.

It was useful to be able to have two or more tabs open, for example when answering another forum member's question. You could stay with your forum page and open product information in another tab to provide a link and answer to the questioner. Can't do that anymore - it's either the forum or the p/i and that is a problem.
