HO / Re: Track type ez track confusion

15" track is fine but ONLY if you're using very short locos and cars.
is there a reason you want track with that tight a radius?

HO / WYE track wiring
March 19, 2012, 09:16:00 PM
i have built a nice track layout which has a wye section of track that is giving me headaches.  the track layout is moderately complex however it boils down to two complex ovals which start and end in this why section.  i would include a full diagram and photos but this system says that the file size of 120kbytes is too large.  i need help in figuring out how to wire this so my dcc trains run without shorting out my prodigy advance 2.  i am using strictly bachmann EZ-track with their left and right turnout switches (NON-DCC).  everything works just fine until the train comes into the wye area.  all of my switches are controlled by LS-150 units by LENZ, and i have set up the prodigy to use routes to automatically activate the proper switches timed to keep from overloading the LS-150 or the ac power supply they are attached to.  My layout is shaped in l configuration measuring 12' x 8' and 8' x 5'.  At present it is set up on my living room floor but i plan to build a table for it BUT not until this problem is fixed in case i should have to get rid of the wye. the wye area i formed is about 5' x 4'.  i can provide photos or drawings if you provide me with where to send them.  BUT maybe a better solution for the files question would be if the problem with the website file size would be addressed.

thank you!

HO / Bachmann Remote Left or Right Turnout (NON-dcc)
December 31, 2011, 01:06:26 PM
Can anyone provide information needed to decide whether to buy the MRC 0001628 STATIONARY Accessory Decoder units for use on automating the Bachmann EZ track Left or Right REMOTE turnouts (the old NON-DCC) ones.  I have 37 left and 44 right turnouts and they are all the original non-dcc ones that came with and an attached green cable(3 wire).  I have just purchased an MRC PRODIGY Advance 2 dcc system which can program the MRC 0001628 accessory decoder.  I would like to keep my layout as is and simply cut the end of the plug on the left and right turnouts and plug them into the accessory switch 0001628.  This MRC product can automate 4 turnouts per accessory unit and makes routing of turnouts easy.  So if i can use my many backmann turnouts with this decoder i will save lots of money by NOT having to replace these 81 turnouts at $37.00+ each, since the decoder ($54)does 4 turnouts i can save a substantial amount of money.  Buying all new Bachmann DCC turnouts at $37+ each (well over $3000.00) is NOT an option, if this were the case i would have to get rid of the bachmann track and go with atlas track.

Is anyone out there using these original non-dcc turnouts in a dcc environment and using decoders or other means of controlling them other than the original bachmann wires and manual switches?  By that i mean automated process Withoutthe use of MANUAL toggles or switches!!!

HO / Bachmann 9" straight rerailer
December 21, 2011, 03:38:48 PM
Does the 9" straight terminal rerailer use or have positive and negative contacts?  if SO how do i tell which side is what?  i'm having serious short circuit problems when i connect the RED power wire to the rerailer.  Does the red wire go on a particular side of the rerailer terminal ends or is it marked in any way?  i have looked at the top, sides and bottom and i can';t find any markings indicating polarity.   can someone help?  i can provide a photo of my layout, maybe there is a reverse loop i can't see as such. i am using MRC 520 reverse loop modules on each of two reverse loop sections that even i can tell they are reverse loops, but my layout is very large and full of turnoffs and i can't tell if there are more than the 2 reverse loops i can see.

HELP me obi-wan-kenobi   you're my ONLY hope!
