Thomas & Friends / Large scale James pupil.
December 16, 2020, 11:27:52 AM
I've finally received my LS James model and even though I am really pleased with it, one of his pupils has a scratch all the way through it.

What brand of paint, or any other brand would you suggest to fix this?

Thanks in advanced :)

Thomas & Friends / Repainting G Scale Spiteful Brake Van
September 30, 2020, 05:51:01 AM
Hi all.

I have purchased a G Scale Spiteful Brake Van, and I am looking forward to getting it tomorrow from my local model shop.

This maybe an unpopular opinion, however I do not like the colour scheme of the model, and I plan to repaint Spiteful Brake Van to look like his TV series counter part.

I have never repainted a model before, and I am not really comfortable in doing so, so I decided to do something that looks quite simple.

I have a few questions that I am hoping some members can help me out with.

- I assume spray paint is the best way to go, which brand of spray paint is the best?
- If I go down the spray paint route, shall I also use spray paint on the buffers to make them black?
- Can the face easily be removed and then attached back on? I don't want to spray his face!

Finally, I am not really sure what colour the brake van is? I watched the episode and researching online, a source says that the brake van is a mixture of grey and brown, but i'm not entirely sure.

Any input would be greatly appreciated :D

Thomas & Friends / Custom face paint
August 03, 2020, 12:00:49 PM
Hi all.

I plan to purchase a Devious Diesel face to replace my HO Bachmann model from shapeways, using the "Smooth fine detail plastic" material.

I am wondering which is the best paint to use for the face and the pupils of the eyes?

Also, when the face has been attached I plan to use a Matte spray finish, as I do prefer a matte finish to the models, which spray do you recommend?

Thanks in advance!

Thomas & Friends / Engine life
March 22, 2016, 02:53:42 PM
Hey guys,

Thinking of a dcc layout, and I am wondering how long do these models actually last? I heard by some youtubers that they need to replace their models every couple of years! How long have you had your engines that still work perfectly? Any suggestions to keep them going for as long as possible? Reason I ask is because dcc conversion is super expensive and I didn't want to convert them if the life time isn't too great.

Cheers!

Thomas & Friends / Knapford Station
June 13, 2013, 05:08:33 PM
I am interested in purchasing Knapford Station. At the moment I only have 1 loop, using 18 inch curves which will obviously be the inside loop. If I get a loop of 22 inch curves will I be able to have that going through the other platform forming the outside loop? Or would you suggest getting curves higher than 22?

Thomas & Friends / Bill's face
April 15, 2013, 01:52:18 PM
What is the easiest way to remove Bill's face without any damage/scratches being caused?
Reason I want to remove his face is so I can straighten out his eyes. :)

Thomas & Friends / Large Scale James

Does anyone know if the Large Scale James is able to work on the curves that comes with the Thomas, Annie and Clarabel set? Or is the radius too tight for James?

HO / Trouble with Bachmann E-Z track points
December 16, 2012, 03:46:58 PM
Hi all,

I have HO Bachmann E-Z track and I am having trouble with the points. Please look at the image below.

http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/7180/img4678r.jpg

Now the point is set so Thomas can go straight forward, and I know in past experience that when a point is set like this, Percy (The green engine in the siding) will stay still and no power will go down that line.

When Thomas is at the top of the main line and points are switched towards Percy, Thomas shouldn't move and percy should really be the only engine that moves.

Unfortunately, this is not the case with Bachmann E-Z track. No matter where an engine is, or where the points are set, both locomotives move, and this is quite irritating. I am wondering if it is my set of points that are not working properly (Even though all my points do this), or if there is a way to make the points work like they should do, disconecting the lines where the points aren't set.

Cheers  :)

Thomas & Friends / Edward's tender
October 21, 2012, 04:19:03 PM
Hi all,

The tender on my Edward model has all his wheels freely running and none of them stick, but the centre wheels seem to be slightly higher than the outer ones and do not reach the rails, so obviously they do not turn when the loco is in motion.

I am wondering if this is just my model, or if most, if not all Edward models are like this, and if there is anyway to change this?

HO / Bachmann Controller UK AC Adapter?
June 21, 2012, 07:28:15 PM
Hi all,

I purchased an oval of HO EZ Track off Ebay with a controller and AC adapter from the US.

I live in the UK so obviously I will need a UK AC Adapter. Am I able to purchase one and use them from a UK OO set or a Graham Farish N Gauge Set and use it on the EZ Track HO controller?

Many thanks

Thomas & Friends / Storage?
February 12, 2012, 01:40:41 PM
Hi all!

I have been looking on Ebay for Stock boxes (Storage boxes) and the measurements that come with the boxes seems a little too small for some of these HO Bachmann Thomas models to fit in (My Thomas seems ok as I have measured him up), but I think that Diesel maybe a little too big :(

Is there any appropriate sized stock boxes that people use, or know of to keep the HO Bachmann Thomas models in?

Many thanks :D

Thomas & Friends / New to Bachmann
February 08, 2012, 07:58:59 AM
Hey guys!

I have been a members on the Forum for a while (Kept quiet), and I am from the UK so all I have is Hornby models.

I have seen photographs and videos online of the Bachmann HO Thomas Range so I have never seen one in physically before.

But this morning arrived my first ever Bachmann Thomas model, Thomas himself!

This is the first time I have ever seen on physically so this is quite exciting to me. I really do love this model, I am very happy :D

Thomas & Friends / Bachmann trains in the UK?
September 07, 2011, 06:25:31 PM
Hi there,

I am in the UK and I am interested in collecting Thomas Bachmann models and using EZ Track.

The Hornby models run at 12v, what power does the Bachmann models run at and what is the controller like at power? I mean, will it over heat faster here than in the US?

Thanks :)

Thomas & Friends / Bachmann Thomas Care
July 04, 2011, 06:33:51 PM
Hi Bachmann forum!

I currently do not own any Thomas and Friends locos by Bachmann as of yet but I do plan on collecting some very soon.

I am an adult so I will own and handle my models with care, but I am here to ask, what is the best way to look after your models so they do not get damaged such as scratches, dust etc, that is if I totally destroy the box which makes it unusable.

Thanks in advance :)

July 04, 2011, 01:52:39 PM
Hey Bachmann forum!

I am new here, and I am a big fan of Thomas. I do plan to own Thomas locos from Bachmann very soon as I do not own anything as of yet :(

I am also pleased with the 2011 releases, the only thing I am not sure on is Diesel's CGI face :( What do you guys think?

I will see you around the Thomas forum :)
