What Bachmann n scale engines are compatible with the  Item # 89554 tender?

N / Worm gear engagement
April 16, 2015, 10:14:23 PM
I have a number of older Bachmann locomotives with the same problem. The motor worm gear will not stay engaged to the drive gear on the frame. I have tried shims but the hold down  on the motor doesn't seem to cope with the force needed to hold the worm engaged. Has anyone solved the problem in a satisfactory manner?

N / Motor installation on Bachmann engines
February 06, 2015, 08:12:11 PM
I enjoy trying to get older n gage locomotives running again. I have a problem. I have about a half dozen Bachmann locomotives that are complete and have good motors in them but they won't run because the worm gear on the motor won't engage the spur gear that drives the wheels. This is true on engines that are clamped down between clips and also on engines that are held down via screws into a threaded hole on the bottom of the motor. Does anyone know hoe to fix this problem? 2 of the engines are 0-6-0 diesel dock siders. 4 are 0-4-0 steam engine switchers.  The motors appear to be bedded down on their support pan. Thanks for any help you can provide.

N / Parts box
January 22, 2015, 07:13:12 PM
Does anyone happen to have an older 4-4-0 Motor Transmission Shaft to spare? The part number is 9852. I picked up an old 4-4-0 with the straight smoke stack and got it running but I am missing the motor shaft. The catalog only shows the newer type motor shaft. On my engine the motor is in the tender and the worm gearing is in the engine. The shaft connects the two.

Thanks.

N / reassembly after repair
January 22, 2014, 08:16:43 PM
I recently dug out my n scale trains. They haven't been run in maybe 30 years. The F9 diesel refused to operate. Took it apart and determined that the motor was dead. Had another F9 that the kids had broken but the motor tested good. Swapped the good motor into the F9 I was working on. Now I can't seem to find the trick to reassembly. The propeller shafts keep falling out as I bring the side pieces together. Can anyone provide me with the process to follow to get the engine running again?

Thanks.
