General Discussion / YAMPA BOB
August 08, 2011, 05:14:11 PM
Hello everyone,

I've been gone for almost a year now.  Moved and then my computer crashed.
But I'm finally back and enjoying all the good info I get here.

Has anyone heard from or talked to Yampa Bob lately ???

General Discussion / 4-8-4 GS4 (SOUTHERN PACIFIC)
October 09, 2010, 10:09:57 AM
Hello folks,

I need some help (advice) with my GS4.
It is a replacement for the GS4 that I got with my first Bachmann Set, the Overland Limited.

After about an hour of break-in time, it still only runs at about 40 scale MPH.  Is this normal or shouldn't it run a bit faster?  It runs the same speed whether by itself or pulling the passenger cars (eight).

Will putting in the dummy plugs help the speed?

Next problem is that it runs backwards compared to "ALL" my other locos including Bachmann and others.

Any help (advice) will surely be appreciated.

HO / ATLAS CODE 100 TRACK TO CODE 83 TRACK
February 19, 2010, 01:18:03 PM
To all track laying experts,

In an attempt to widen my curves, I'm thinking of getting code 83 24" radi curves.  Everything I have now is code 100.  I know I can get the Atlas connectors to join them together.  What would be the negative effects, if any, of this transition ???

Thanks,

HO / HO Scale Dummy "B" Units
February 09, 2010, 03:55:55 PM
Hey guys,

I'm needing a bit of help here.  Last weekend I went to a train show and picked up some "A" units,  but they had no "B" units.  My searching skills are not the best and I can't find what I'm looking for.  Where are those grand kids when you need them.  I'm needing a dummy "B" unit for an EMD F9 Union Pacific,  An EMD F9 SP Daylight and a F7 SP Black Widow.  All I want is the shell and frame it's mounted on.  I can find the powered "B" units and they are pretty proud of them.  By the way, the EMD-UP and the SP Black Widow are both Bachmann and the SP Daylight is Life-Like.
Any help will certainly be appreciated.

Thanks,

HO / QUESTIONS FOR MR. RILEY AND THE BACH MAN
December 14, 2009, 11:41:08 AM
Question # 1:  What are the colors used on your HO scale Southern Pacific Daylight GS4 (4-8-4)  steam locomotive #4449?  Mine is in dire need of refurbishing.

Question # 2:   Does Bachmann have any plans to produce the passenger cars
that the afore mentioned loco would have pulled???

HO / HO SCALE IHC 0-8-0 SWITCHER
November 06, 2009, 02:14:28 PM
I need some help here folks.

I know, I know, I shouldn' t be talking about IHC here, but here goes.  My one loco, that's not Bachmann, has a problem turning left.  It will turn right (clockwise) all day long.  As soon as it hits a left hand curve, it wants to stall, until it gets to the next straight piece of track.  Any suggestions.

Three weeks ago I sent  two Bachmann Plus diesel locomotives to the service department for repairs.  I received two replacement locos this past Saturday.  Mighty quick turnaround.

N / OLD EMD SOMETHING
October 07, 2008, 08:33:12 AM
Hello "N" scale modelers,

I have an old EMD ?? (Union Pacific).  I gave it to my daughter (really for me) about 40 years ago.  It was a set bought from Montgomery Ward.
The bottom of the engine reads:

Lonestar
Treble O Lectric
EL 62
British and Foreign Pat.

The rubber bands that make the engine move are shot.
My question is, are these rubber bands replaceable, and if so, where does a person find them ???

Any help will be much appreciated.

HO / Passenger Cars
March 10, 2008, 02:48:25 PM
Hello to all,

First,
Let me say thanks to Yampa Bob for the Yampa Valley Rail Road layout.  I have copied it and it works great.  Only took me a couple of weeks to get the parts needed and a little trial and error.
Next,
The grand kids want to know why I don't have any passenger cars.
Next,
I have a Bachmann 2-6-2 Prairie (Rio Grande) and don't know which passenger cars would appropriatly (sp?) go with it.  I have no theme as of yet.  Besides that, the kids just want to see it run anyway.
Next,
I also have a Union Pacific GP 38 Hi Nose Up loco and don't have a clue if this engine ever pulled passenger cars or not.  If they did, which ones?

Any help will surely be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

General Discussion / Tender derailing
November 16, 2007, 01:45:17 PM
A little background first.  I got my first HO train set about 20 years ago and found it in my mother's garage about a month ago.  It had never been opened.  The name on the box is AHM.  Anyway, I decided it was time to try it out.  It works like a charm.  Several weeks ago I acquired a 4-8-4 steam locomotive but the rear drive wheels kept coming apart.  I sent it to Bachmann for repairs and they sent me a brand new one with DCC on Board.  NOW FOR THE PROBLEM I'M HAVING....As soon as the tender hits the first curved track, it derails.  Is this because the curves are too sharp???
What are my options?  Am I stuck with something that will not work on my layout?  I have it set up on a 4X8 sheet of plywood.

Needing help here.......
