HO / B30-7 Rear Truck Derailing
August 20, 2023, 12:59:19 AM
A recently purchased B30-7 was track tested ad the rear truck seems to derail after the locomotive moves about an inch in either direction. I'm not sure what the problem could be. I know it's not my track though

HO / EZ-Lube for Amfleets
December 28, 2020, 05:08:29 PM
Is there a recommended EZ-Lube for the Amfleet cars? I got six from the recent run and they gave one of my Walthers F40s a very hard time.

Plasticville U.S.A. / Suggestions for new HO buildings
February 05, 2020, 05:36:11 PM
I've been thinking about some new buildings that would fit into the HO Plasticville line recently.

Bank - One was issued way back when, but a new one should be made. Yours was the only one with a drive-thru that I know of.

Bus Station - There is a somewhat new line of HO Scale buses on the market. A new bus station would work well for the line. A prototype for this could be a scaled down version of the Philadelphia Greyhound Terminal.

Coffee Shop/Florist - This is simply a new front and window insert that can be used with the sides and rear from the 5 & 10 Store, Hardware Store/Pharmacy, or Supermarket. There's a few others that could be made using this same setup of a new front with existing wall and roof tooling such as a Dollar Store.

Train Station - I include this as a suggestion for a station with an 18" platform that can hold about three cars. This should also be checked with the height of EZ-Track sections so that there's not a huge gap between the platform and the bottom step of a passenger car.

HO / E60CP won't run and overloads power pack
July 24, 2017, 04:45:23 PM
Problem as described in subject. This is the Phase III model (roadnumber 974, item 65503) from about 10 years ago. I'll have had it for about 8 years next month.

And what a bad time for this engine to act up, I was thinking about buying a second E60 or a GG-1. Now, I'm thinking the Proto Metroliner might be a better fit for my railroad.

HO / Athearn GP40-2 Replacing a broken sideframe
October 16, 2010, 05:48:44 PM
The problem I'm having is that the peg from the old sideframe is jammed into the slot for the new sideframe and I can not get it out at all.  Does anyone have any ideas short of buying a new engine. I'd hate to have to bother Athearn again for a new power truck for this engine when I just asked for new sideframes.

I am now having problems with the HHP-8 staying coupled to the delighted Amfleets. I have also sent in a complaint to Walthers about a height problem with my Horizon Fleet cars in that they won't stay coupled to anything even using lowered head couplers. I had to run them recently using a diesel on both ends of the train since they were mixed in with Amfleet and Heritage cars.

EDIT: Changing the thread title to reflect the new use of this thread.

HO / Walthers Amfleet Is are history
August 12, 2010, 06:22:52 PM
Time for Bachmann to put its foot forward. I would suggest a major overhaul of the paintwork on the cars and adding the Phase I and Northeast Direct schemes to the mix. The paint issue and the easily correctable if you don't mind losing the lighting wheel issue are the only two drawbacks to an otherwise decent model and now the only choice for those not wanting to hunt down brass models or search ebay for hours on end looking for Walthers cars that may be from before working diaphragms were included with the cars.

HO / Wheels squealing on Amfleets
July 22, 2010, 07:54:19 PM
I just ran my set of Phase V Amfleets and noticed that the wheels on the cafe were squealing horribly and it seemed to be causing the HHP-8 to spin its wheels in spots.

HO / What Switch
November 06, 2009, 07:49:00 AM
What switch should be used with the Walthers DD Commuter Cars? I'm planning to redo my curves and switches to handle these cars and better handle the regular streamliners.

HO / Amfleet Cars, question for B-Mann and tip
August 16, 2008, 07:49:40 AM
Is there some reason the Amfleet I cars weren't made in the as-delivered Phase I paint scheme? I'm not really that picky about Amfleet cars. You can also put me down for Amfleet IIs and a cab car in both Phase III and "Phase V" paint schemes.

If anyone has had both the current B-Mann and the Walthers Amfleets. I hope yoou saved the decal sheets from the Walthers. I used mine to number the cars and replace the coach/cafe markings on a set of Phase III cars and as far as I'm concerned, the Phase III cars look much nicer with the Walthers lettering on them.
