N / E-Z N Standard Switch NEW, fail analog DC at frog
December 02, 2016, 10:53:39 PM
I have just purchased some new EZ track, including standard remote switches. I have two that fail the same manner, but different route. The engine stalls when it gets to the frog area. Since the power lamps on the MRC pack blink at that time it seems its shorting out. The dumb thing is that one switch does this on the straight route, and the other on the diverge route. Is this a known thing with a fix or do I need to contact Bachmann since they are new?

Thanks - Tim

N / Bachmann EZ track WGH track set - NO PLAN??
November 22, 2016, 11:54:12 PM
I just opened the box to this track set, and there is no track plan that I can find. The dvd obviously is fo HO gauge, and may even be KATO track. What gives? In trying to guess using a PC program, the given track doesn't even seem to meet up - am I missing something here?
Thanks. I am trying to just do something simple and this seemed like a good idea.

HO / Bachmann GP7 65601 & GP9 62811 shell question
December 12, 2015, 01:27:41 PM
Hello,

Is it possible that these chassis' are the same, and one can remove the CB&Q shell off the 62811 and place it onto the PRR 65601 chassis after removing it's shell? I know I did this before with maybe an FA unit, then reselling the unwanted unit.
Wouldn't have this question if soundtrax was avail in most, if not all models. ;)

Thanks,

Tim

HO / DCC / Sound 4-6-0 wont run on DC
December 18, 2013, 09:21:05 PM
I give up with 'search' - doesnt seem to work with me, I know this issue is probably on here somewhere.

I have a DCC/Sound 4-6-0 that works fine in DCC, but when I try to test it on DC (I sold my DCC system) it makes no sound, and the lights click on & off. What Up?

I hope it didnt get messed up.

The analog pack is an TECH II 2400

Thanks

Hi - silly question of the day, but at an extra $110, I 'd rather be sure.

I got a new S-2 DC (DCC READY) (63310) in CB&Q. I was wondering if I bought a Soundvalue model, say the PRR 63403 (S-2 w/DCC & SOUND) can I swap the Engine shells to make it the CB&Q that has the sound?

Thanks - Tim

I have now just seen this for sale online, and all sources so far state that the minimum radius recommended is 19 INCH???? Is that for real? That's mostly humongous for N gauge. I mean even 15 is usually the largest most small layouts can handle. I was just wondering if this is a typo?

Mr Bachmann or anyone have a verify?

N / Bachman N RS3 - SHELL - How to get off???
April 21, 2013, 09:29:54 PM
Does anyone know how to get this shell off the RS3? I hate this decoder in it, and I wish to see what can be done. Its ridiculous that no matter what I change settings to, I still have to move the speed up to 13 before it even starts to move - thats not a one handed easy operation.

Thanks - Tim

Hello - my PRR RS3 just came. Its my first N Engine in my switching back to N. I hooked up 4 pieces of unitrack, and the NCE and while it does run, it wont move (just hums) until the throttle is up to like 14. Is this normal or do I have a bad engine? Or is there a setting thats wrong? (I havent programmed anything yet on it)

Thanks - Tim

I have just seen the new F7's available from MB Klein, and noticed, that again, these are described as 'unnumbered'. Is there a logical reason why this is now happening (FA2, RF16, now F7) ? Most people have a real difficult time applying numbers to number boards alone, w/o trying to match the style on the engine lettering.

Hello - considering a Mehano Pacific loco (M9921) and was wondering how difficult is the DCC conversion? I found a old thread on this topic here, but it ended without any instructions, I guess maybe they sent them another way.
I saw the TCC pix on a 4-8-2 which looks do-able, if the 4-6-2 is the same deal - motor already isolated, dont have to remove the drive wheels (i dont want anything to do with that kind of work)

Thanks so much - Tim

Another quick question - maybe the Bach-Mann has to answer this one. So the price and value of these DCC/Soundtrax locos are great - but I was wondering, since I will get another different one (I have the S2 - will get an FA2) are they both the same sounds, or are they different, to sort of match the engine?

HO / ALCO S2 w/DCC Soundtrax - How do you change horn?
February 12, 2013, 12:53:36 PM
I have an HO new Bachmann S2 w/dcc soundtrax. All the ad's say it has 3 choices of horn, but there is no instruction on how and where to choose this. The ONLY document included mentions 'Users Guide' (not included in box, cant find on website) and a 'Technical Reference' (also not included and not found on website) The Bachmann website takes you to the 'Soundtrax' poke, whereupon you get the same 'Quick Start Guide' thats in the box. No other docs or pokes. Say what?

Can the blarpy horn be changed or not? If yes, how please. I am only a 'simple DCC' person, not versed in all the fancy CV stuff.

Thanks

Hello - are these engines dead and gone or are/will they be restocked? Its sad to not be able to have gotten one. Just wondering . . .

Thanks from NJ

Hello,

I see that on TCSDCC they show a K-4 with a plug-in socket in the tender. I am sure that not all versions of this engine that are for sale have this. Is there any way to know which ones are Easy Plug and play, and which are the 'blow your brains out' rewire job?
It is rather aggravating that this kind of information is not easily ever provided anywhere that I know. Does anyone know - or do the Bachmann Man Know?
I mean all one can find of most any PRR Steam engine these days is in the used market.

Thanks - Tim

So - Hello to Bachmann's people - now that you have so nicely made that great addition to EZ track - the 44592 small filler pieces set, has anyone realized or thought of now ditching the one piece of 9" straight that you have to cut to fit in that 'First Hobby Layout Set', and replace it with the correct combo of smal per-made pieces? Anyone thought of that yet? Just thinkin' I am sure it would help - especially when the target audience is most likely novices for that Layout Set

Being that I do CB&Q, not too many Passenger cars in the lower price range are around. I did get a 3 car set on EBAY, new cars, but the trucks are really garbage. Has anyone every upgraded the wheelsets or the whole trucks, and if so any reccomendations?
One of the cars wobbles like a duck! And they all have problems passing through the Atlas 60 degree crossings (2 in a row) that I have.

Thanks

HO / Track planner question - xcad
April 21, 2011, 09:46:29 PM
I thought I have seen stuff about Xcad, in here, and about a free program. I tried a google search, but wasnt sure of what I found, especially when all the gongs went off in the PC, so I stopped.
I am finding that RR Track does not seem to be calibrated correctly, as the plan that is made in the PC doesnt seem to use the same track pieces IRL. Hence my misalligned curve. Also after several requests, with no response from them, still no #4 Bachmann EZ switch added to the track library.
Does Xcad work any better, and are pieces up to date, and also what is the correct link?

Thanks - Tim

HO / Bach 2-10-2 and 22r curves Atlas vs EZ question
April 20, 2011, 09:32:18 PM
Sorry for yet another topic on this engine, but its a totally different question now. I received my replacement engine today, which runs fine, except the engine doesnt seem to totally appreciate my EZ 22" curves. I can see it actually lift up the front truck when it goes into some curves, and an EZ #4 switch.
1) Has anyone ever done any adjusting to the lead truck(seems like if it had a spring in it, it would help)
2) Has anyone ever noted that a Bachmann 2-10-2 has similar problems on Atlas Code 100 22"r curves and Atlas #4 switches?

All my diesels, including a Bach SD40 run fine on the track and the #4 EZ switches.

Thanks - Tim

HO / 2-10-2 performance question
April 03, 2011, 11:58:01 PM
Hello,

So here is my question. My new Bachmann 2-10-2 seems to have a slight 'click' sound going forward mostly. The old thump thump thump sound, along with a very slight wobble. I am trying to figure out how much is normal, or do these run smoothly? I may do an RMA with the mail-order. Thanks - Tim

OK -this has to be for the Bach Man - I have been to my LHS several times, and my one discount Mail order store near Baltimore online, and HO EZ track Left Hand Standard Nickle Silver Switches are not happening, and have not happenned for at least a month, if not more. Whats going on? Do we have any dates of this stuff showing up?
Thanks - Tim
