HO / DCC turnout issues! Help!
March 12, 2020, 11:43:52 AM
Hi! I just added two more turnouts (one is a crossover) and programmed them numbers 6 and 7... now turnouts 2, 4 and 5 wont respond and when I tried reprogramming number 2(also a crossover) I get a short circuit warning! It worked perfectly for almost three years. Any idea how to fix this? Thanks!

HO / HELP! DCC loco gone crazy!
November 18, 2017, 12:54:22 PM
Please help!

I have three locos that I use as a consist when all of a sudden one of them caused a short circuit and everything stopped (I use the Dynamis system). I quickly pinpointed the loco and removed everything else from the tracks. As soon as I hit the stop button again to resume power, it took off at full speed and will not respond to the controller at all! What can I do to regain control of my loco? I'm not very experienced with decoders and don't know what to check for! Thanks

After some frustration I figured out how to program my dcc turnout using the Dynamis system. Here's what you do:

1. ALWAYS use a service track or isolated track for programming as it not only protects your loco/accessory it protects all other decoders from being reprogrammed.
2. PRESS the mode button to view accessories and go to accessory 3 as it's the default address
3. PRESS and hold the programming button on your turnout and it will toggle back and forth (twice)
4. ENTER the new address
5. PRESS either straight/divergent button and turnout will toggle four times

Hope this helps!

Howdy!

I recently acquired the Dynamis and DCC turntable. Is it best to use the table as an accessory address, or normal address? Thanks!

Howdy!

Just wondering if anyone has tried using the Atlas brand elevated pier set with Bachmann's ez track? What is the grade percentage? Thanks!

After much debate, I dismantled my layout and will begin again. I am very interested in the DCC turntable and I would like to know EVERYTHING Before I buy... the good, the bad, and the ugly! So far I have learned it has a 14" diameter, with a 10" bridge and 16 indexed tracks. I also read that the Tidmouth Sheds will adapt as a roundhouse and I'm okay with that. My biggest concern is the indexed tracks... are they powered? It would take a lot of wiring to power all those...

Anything else I should know? All comments are appreciated. Happy Saturday! :)

HO / Having Issues With Uncoupling
February 21, 2013, 07:59:22 PM
I have been working on my couplers over the past few days and the only issue I seem to constantly have is when it comes to uncoupling... the whole process is fine except that it seems the couplers don't open enough and as soon as they move away from the magnet, they snap back and the cars are again coupled. The couplers are Kadee's for the most part, and gauge is correct, as well as height... maybe new magnets? Help please!

HO / DCC Turnout Programing
August 04, 2012, 12:00:06 PM
I have 7 dcc turnouts on my layout that all work great. One small thing... every time I power on the layout, three of the turnouts switch and I always have to change them back. Can I reprogram the default and if so, how do I go about it? I seem to have misplaced the instructions that came with it. Thanks and happy Saturday!

HO / Kadee Couplers/Uncouplers
August 03, 2012, 05:13:42 PM
Let's see... I installed magnetic uncouplers on my layout. The cars/locos will uncouple, however the couplers do not open far enough in the delayed position and as soon as it moves off the uncoupler, the knuckles close and the cars are still coupled. Kinda defeats the purpose... can't spot cars to different tracks. My only option is to uncouple and leave the cars where they are. Even the instructions that came with it has diagrams illustrating how it works, but to no avail. Any tips or ideas as to how to resolve this problem? Thanks and happy Friday!

HO / DCC turnout issues
September 19, 2011, 08:28:07 PM
I recently installed 7 dcc turnouts on my layout and programmed them all without issues. When I run my trains, all of a sudden some of the turnouts stop working. I had a few derails with larger locos heading into the "y" point of the turnout; I learned it was from uneven track and was fixed. Is it possible a loose connection or lack of power would cause them to not respond? It is usually the same turnouts that act this way, and it is the turnouts farthest from the power source. I have 9 dcc locos and 7 dcc turnouts... too much for the ez command system???

HO / DCC Dynamis
February 06, 2011, 09:18:13 PM
I am very interested in upgrading my bachmann dcc control to a dynamis control... which one exactly do I buy? I am a little confused... there are two and one costs more than the other... I think I understand but a little explanation would be great! Thanks!

HO / DCC 2-10-2 steam loco
January 04, 2011, 08:27:50 AM
Is there a quick fix to preventing my steam loco from slowing/ jumping the track on an 18 degree turn? It seems to be just one section of track... the loco slows on the curve, as if the wheels are being pinched... as soon as I give it a little push the front wheels jump the track. I also noticed a slight gap in the track... would this cause the turn to be less than 18 degrees, causing it to derail? Any suggestions? Thanks!

HO / DCC Turnout
January 04, 2011, 07:39:03 AM
Last night I finally wired my main track to rest of my layout, which consists of a turntable and a few tracks coming from it. I had already programmed it for DCC was was working fine until I began running one of my Bachmann locos. When I turn on/off the cab lights, it causes the turnout to stop responding and I have to reset the power. I am still testing and working on it... but so far everything works just fine, with the exception of that loco. As soon as I resolute I will update this post... in the meantime, if anyone else has had this problem, let me know. Thanks!

HO / DCC Wye Track Planning
November 24, 2010, 06:53:15 AM
HI!

I am planning my 3rd layout (first two built and taken apart due to poor wiring) and would like to use a wye so the main line becomes a double... which track pieces do I need to use with the wye to make two paralell tracks from it? I thought I saw something online about it but can't find it this morning...

Cheers!

HO / Atlas turntable Motor
April 15, 2009, 11:26:25 PM
I didn't clean my turntable properly after I painted and causes my turntable to stick in a few places... tonight it locked up completely and I used a bit of force to turn it. Turns out I broke the belt on the motor unit. WHERE CAN I BUY A NEW BELT FOR MY MOTOR? I've been working on this for a week, and now this...  ???

HO / Can this be done?
April 12, 2009, 07:10:02 AM
I found an older bachmann power pack... you know, the square light-grey kind with a big red speed knob... can I convert the power from this dc source to ac to control my lighting?

HO / Wiring
April 10, 2009, 04:00:05 PM
I have an 18 volt AC power source I would like to use to light up my layout. What's the best type of resistor to buy that would be best compatible? I don't want to burn down my layout lol !!!

Cheers!

HO / Replacement Parts
February 07, 2007, 06:51:00 PM
I am in the process of replacing the old horn hoook couplers with mchenry/kadee knuckles and also removing gear boxes from the truck and mounting them to the car itself. This seems to work much better... but some of them are worn and need to be replaced. Most of the rolling stock is Bachmann, and I was wondering if these were available to buy? Can you buy them with or without the gear boxes? I need several pairs ... Any feedback is appreciated!
