HO / Using Dynamis System
February 06, 2023, 01:00:37 PM
When I had programming questions while you were unavailable I had this response---

"""There is probably nothing wrong with the quality of your product, but it is limited with what you are able to do with it.

Recommendation would be to start using something more advanced from MRC, Digitrax, or NCE. Other possibilities are ESU, Roco, and Lenz. Sell the Bachman on eBay, trade it in at a hobby shop, or sell it at a train show."""

This is what I was told on an on line site dedicated to HO DCC when asked about programming commonly available dcc cv'c and other dcc commands with my expanded Dymanis system. Isn't this your best system for dcc ho?

Have things improved? Can I make my system better continuing to use Bachmann products?

I have so much invested in your system as we speak.

What's your response to this?

HO / Bachmann and MTH
April 16, 2018, 07:12:15 PM
Mr. Bachmann,

So I now a have an MTH Mohawk for my ho layout. Sweet. When I put on my setup and try to start up or turn on the system, the other eight locos on the tracks skip and sputter and hum and click until I tip the MTH off the track it is on and let the other trains start or come on. Once that happens I can reset the MTH back on the track it is on and all is fine. The MTH waits for f-3 to start like it is supposed to and operates normally.
My setup is a Dynamis Pro with a 5 amp booster.
If the MTH is supposedly dormant until individually called up where is the voltage or current disruption coming from? Why is it so much of a load it trips the booster, but is ok after the old on off?

HO / Sound for Niagara's?
March 29, 2018, 01:12:59 PM
What sound decoder setup is recommended for use in the Niagara?
TCS has some Bachmann motherboard specific listings but not for the centipede tender configuration.
Has anyone done an upgrade to sound?

Thanks

Sadly this is the anniversary of the loss of my nephew SSg MArk A. Stets jr. US ARMY  in Pakistan Lower Dir in 2010 along with two other soldiers and three young girls at an attack by the Taliban.
Please keep them and all the fallen in your hearts and minds as you seek peace in your life.

HO / Configuring Registry
January 21, 2018, 03:18:27 PM
Bach Man,

Is there a way to alphabetize or sequence the registry in my Dynamis Pro system. I have to keep my schedule list handy or my trains to a known group to move about the tracks safely. The registry is as the engines and diesels were originally entered into the list. Diesels, locomotives, and consists, all random. Searching for a specific  train to change parameters through the same bowl of ball bearings each time drags on a bit since the screen only shows loco last used. Having the list available in some order would make the search so much quicker. Shouldn't hard since there are only 40 slots available for input
Do I have to write down my own new list on paper then enter them ALL back onto the registry in the order I want after DELETING ALL my current entries??

Today would have been my nephew and highly decorated American hero Mark A Stets jr's 47th birthday were it not for his loss in Pakistan Feb 3 2010. Please remember him today and next month also, as well as all of those other Soldiers who fallen in the name our shared freedom.

Will the E-Z Command 5 a booster work on a DYNAMIS PRO system?
Is a BOOSTER a BOOSTER?

HO / Spectrum passenger trucks
December 18, 2017, 03:05:14 PM
Are replacement trucks actually available for Spectrum passenger cars as seen when googling Bachmann diecast ho passenger trucks as seen in pic #1 of Images. Pic shown has correct truck and power connection wire. When clicked on you are sent to shop bachmann com page with only freight trucks at the bottom of the page.
How else could they be listed if still available?
What about replacement isolated wheel sets for same? My used cars are really USED and one end of the axles are blunted and one side of the truck is worn oval as the cars must have only gone in a circle one way for years!

HO / HO 4-8-4 wheel set swaps
March 15, 2017, 02:51:20 PM
My Niagara's have need of replacement connecting bars as they now have very ovaled ends.
These parts are N.A. for the Niagara, nor is the whole wheel set avail.
Will wheel sets from any of the other 4-8-4's swap out?
Is the wheel center spacing the same?
Are the wheel dia's. the same?
Are the bar lengths matching and interchangeable?
Are just the wheel types the difference, spoked vs Scullen?

Thanks

HO / Parts
February 08, 2017, 12:27:21 PM
So Both of my DCC ho 4-8-4 Niagara's drive rod sets, all 12, are taking a dump. I run my trains a lot but come on!
They have both ovaled the rod ends to where the slop makes them struggle on turns and just about useless at slow speed,
Guess what, no parts, no chassis , no rods. SOLD OUT of the only things that ware out!
Still an active seller all over the internet, my local hobby store has one!
What other engines can be scavenged for these parts or are these now "shown on the shelf only" units?

HO / DCC Voltage Gremlin Found
January 10, 2017, 02:41:25 PM
GREMLIN FOUND !!!

Had tried just about everything to get all my loops to run at the same time.
I use a Dynamis wireless and NS track
Did a voltage test on each track and found decreasing values at each.
They are basically concentric loops connected in parallel.
When originally set up as DC I had to make sure the + & - were in the direction of travel.
When I switched to DCC it didn't seem to matter but I did not pay attention to that fact and confused it with the DC polarity requirements and feared "closing the loop the wrong way" and shorting out something because of the square wave AC/DC polarities.
Since the Dymanis trips out at the slightest fault, I ran a second feeder from the inside loop to the outside loop connected it with no polarity intended and it stayed ON and I now have a constant 13.2 Volts on each track by powering the system from both ends as it were.
The track power strips were setup all side to side to each other for what I thought would be minimal line loss, but not to be.
So Close Your Loops and Keep Your Voltage Constant

HO / Motor swap
March 17, 2015, 04:18:42 PM
So...
My two DCC HO Niagara's, hmmmm..
Used one needs 4 new drive bars or worst case scenario an undercarriage assby', not avail, only motor and carriage @ $70.+ first child.
New one has slooooooo-ooo--oow motor, swap? not the decoders, swapped tenders same same.
Look up part# for a new motor, found # 8811B and two? are shown, one sold out, the one I supposedly need? Says for northern. Tells me that this train has more of a problem than other motors and drives as they are all gone and sooooo many other parts for so many others are still available.
What's the diff? one is $20, one is $15 Is it just the gear? Can it be pressed off and the other replaced?
Don't want to have to say "Yeah I have two dcc bachmanns but they need parts and repair. Isn't one new? Yeah , guess if it runs it is considered working. "Just slow all the other trains down to its speed". This ain't the US School System, it is a dc motor, no reason to dumb down 20 trains for one questionable brand new motor."
Is my only option to buy the "motor and chassis" (hope it's motor is of good quality) and then scavenge that for the actual parts I really need to repair the two I have? Because if I send them in, it's shipping, service fee, parts costs and shipping back, if they can or will repair either unit. They will replace the new one with something else as new DCC 4-8-4 Niagara's are unavailable from Bachmann now. I only run New York Central HO on my layout so that is not an option for me.

HO / Speed differences
February 27, 2015, 11:51:20 AM
Just got a new DCC 4-8-4 Niagara 6014. Have a DCC 4-8-4 Niagara 6020.
6020 runs circles around 6014. Both set w/same basic CV values 2 thru 6.
Both start on 1/126 throttle.
I know there are variations loco to loco but never this far apart.
Did I miss a setting somewhere?

Tried to log on to service page many times and was not accepted. How is this forum different than the service page? I'm signed in here all OK.
Don't want to resign in with diff name and pw each time I want service for something.
What is the trick?
I need an RMA to return a faulty 4-8-4 dcc for service.
Is it better just to call in?

HO / 4-8-4 swaps
February 01, 2015, 04:31:43 PM
I have an old Niagara pancake motor engine that has an open winding.
I have a new to me E-bay DCC NYC 6020 Niagara that has ovaled drive bar centers that click on every rotation.
Can I swap the drive from an old dc Bachmann NYC 6008 or Bachmann Plus NYC 5016 to the newer DCC engine undercarriage or parts therein since wheel parts are out of stock in the parts list currently?
The old units are even nicer than the new DCC parts.

Thanks,
