Williams by Bachmann / RE: York Trains
February 07, 2014, 10:54:52 AM
York Trains, of Highland, Indiana, went out of business a number of years ago (as far as I can tell, after doing an address search), but for some reason, their old web site from 2005 is still on the web.  If you don't happen to have any Williams Trains catalog from that time, it might be historically interesting to see the very large number of road names that were once available for Williams passenger cars and locomotives.

I bought a used set of Williams Erie Alco PA-1's and a set of Erie 60' Madison cars off eBay, and the York Trains sales receipt was still inside the box.

Williams by Bachmann / California Zephyr

When was the last run of Williams aluminum 60' California Zephyr passenger cars?  It took almost a year of searching, but I acquired a used set at a good price through eBay that must have been made during the 1970s.  As far as I can tell, it is still a popular set, and hard to find in O gauge.

Williams by Bachmann / Hudson slows down and stalls
December 06, 2013, 11:26:37 AM
I own over 100 Williams/WBB locomotives, and only a very few have had any operating problems.  I recently acquired a semi-scale WBB New York Central 4-6-4 Hudson via eBay.  After about 5 to 10 minutes of running (pulling 6 Madison passenger cars), the locomotive slows down and eventually stops.  The motor runs hot; the flywheel almost can burn your finger.  I have lubricated all of the wheels, axles, siderods, and the motor shaft under the flywheel.  I have added extra grease to the worm gear also.  The engine still stalls after running for a short time.

Williams by Bachmann / Williams Erie F3

Is the Erie F3 black and yellow, or is it dark green and yellow.  It's not always easy to tell from photographs.  Thanks.

Williams by Bachmann / Have E7's been discontinued?

They are no longer listed in the 2013 catalog.  :-[

Wow!  At $40, this is less expensive than after-market shells designed to fit Lionel F3's.  I am assuming that the road names available are whatever the currently catalog lineup is for F7's.

I have an old used set of Crown Edition Santa Fe 60' aluminum cars that have black trucks.  I also have a 2 car add-on of contemporary Santa Fe aluminum cars that come with silver trucks.  My Santa Fe war bonnet locomotives (Williams PA-1 AA, and RailKing E3 AA) both have silver trucks.

Any advice on a good way to paint the black trucks silver?  The floor bodies of the older cars are also painted black.  I think some kind of paint mask has to be created, and a lot of wheel sets have to be removed beforehand.

I bought a used Williams F7 A unit that is missing the die cast pilot (painted black).  Is it possible to order this part?  It doesn't show up in the on-line list of available parts.
