One easy way to tell the difference between the acela locomotives, that are DCC ready or DCC on board, is by the color of the boxes. The DCC ready boxes are black, the DCC on board boes are red in color and you can see the locomotves without opening the box. The product number for the DCC on boad is 89145

HO / Older Atlas GP 40
March 25, 2010, 10:15:07 PM
I purchased an Atlas Gp40 with a 4 function DCC decoder. The road name is Amtrak and the number is 660. I followed the instructions in the box and changed the decoder from analog to digital function. I have EZ command and I cannot get this unit to go. How do you program this unit with EZ command. Thanks

I aquired another blueline locomotive and I am having a problem reprogramming the decoder to a different address than 3. The loco will move but there is no light function or any sound when I programmed it to a new  address that is not # 3. I am using TCS DP2x decoder. Any help will be highly appreciated, Thanks all.

HO / Amtrak Continental versus the Amtrak Nor'easter
December 01, 2008, 03:34:26 PM
I see that the Amtrak Nor'easter is now at the hobby shops, I Prefer the Continental especially with Amtrak phase 3 scheme and the F40ph locomotives. It is really a sad that they are getting rid of the F40ph's I love those locomotives.

I received the unit and I placed a TCS DPX2 decoder in it. The unit runs well and the ditch lights blink when I use the horn. I am loving it. Thanks again

HO / Atlas mp15 or Concor mp15
November 10, 2008, 10:22:49 AM
I see the Concor MP15 with decoder on a site for $80. I see the Atlas without a decoder for $60, which do you think is the better deal. Thanks.

I don't know if this site might be helpful. The site is  Train Control Systems they have some pictures to aid installation of decoders.
