Thanks for sharing that idea sounds great. Now to find away to make an extension handle for those long stretches. ;D

Jerry
Jerry , I made an extension handle by duct taping the handle to a piece of pvc pipe .I have limited mobility so this works fine for me .

HO / Inexpensive Track Cleaning Tool
January 29, 2014, 03:07:01 PM
One of the things I like best about the Bachmann forum is the sharing of ideas .
What works for one may work for others .I want to share what I found that works great for me ,very cheap too and under $3.00 .
Shur Line ( the company that makes paint brushes ,etc .) has a Trim & Touch Up Pad .They are sold most every where ,WalMart,Lowes,Home Depot,Sears.
It is a six inch handle with a slide on pad .Comes with two pads which can be washed .The pad is 1 1/2" W X 2 1/4" L .The pad is very soft with a thin foam pad under it.The soft pad is on a plastic slide on base . The pad is made for painting and staining .I spray alcohol on one pad and use the other one for wiping the track off . You can find pictures of the Trim & Touch up Pad on the internet .Lowes website has one pictured .I believe they are listed for $2.54 .Some have been listed on Ebay in the past .
Hope this may help someone .Have fun and enjoy the hobby .

General Discussion / Backdrop Source
January 17, 2014, 07:29:47 PM
I just purchased a custom sized backdrop ( 20" X 60") for my small HO layout.
Should anyone be looking for ideas I suggest you go to backdropjunction.com.
I liked what they offered and received an excellent product and service.

HO / Re: Peter Witt DCC vs DC

I don't understand what you are reporting .I have two HO Peter Witt street cars .They came DCC powered .I did not have to program anthing except the address .If mine are placed on DC power they run just fine . However ,they do require more power to operate .
Hope you get them running okay .Art

HO / Re: HO Trolley Bell Sound Module
November 29, 2013, 08:09:42 PM
Let me end this by answering my own question .What I am about to report would apply to other ITTP sound modules as well, not just the trolley sound module .I have purchased one and this is what I would like to report . Maybe it will be of some help to someone .
1-The sound module is very small ,about 1 1/4" x 2 1/4" .It is very well made .
2-The wires for the speaker, push botton switch and power fasten to the module with screws .However, the wire to the speaker and switch need to be soldered .Any size 8 ohm speaker can be used .
3-I placed the sound module and  2 1/2" speaker in separate plastic bags .They hang underneath the layout . I installed a push button switch next to my power packs .
ITT Products web site has samples of different sounds .
Sound modules can not be mounted on metal .They are so small they can be placed most any place .
Again, hope someone can get something from this .It was a learning experience for me .
   Enjoy the hobby !

Rich , I checked some of links . Most go to the HQ280 sound module .This is the one I am asking about . One had a real close up clear picture of the module. Looks like the wires connect to a screw terminal mount .This is good.
I would still like to hear from someone who is using one independent of the trolley . Again, THANKS ! Art

HO / HO Trolley Bell Sound Module
November 24, 2013, 10:35:00 AM
Would appreciate information on how to have a trolley bell clang sound that is independent of the car itself .There have been post about the ITT module which sounds great .However ,does anyone know how to hook one up?  Can they be connected without soldering connections ? How about mounting the push button switch ,etc .Hope someone can help me on this .Thanks ! Art

HO / Re: New to model trains need help

Does it run with just the 36" EZ track circle ? It  probably will .If it does I would guess there is something wrong with your track connection .Maybe you should be using all EZ Track .Maybe someone else can give you better advice .
Anyhow,I wish you success .Art

HO / Displaying Flying HO Airplane
July 11, 2013, 04:38:12 PM
Just a brief comment for what it's worth . I wanted to display two airplanes but  can not hang anything from the ceiling .I tried something and I like it.
Took a 3/8"  36" clear acrylic dowel / rod ( from Amazon ) and cut it in half .
Drilled 3'8" hole in platform for the clear dowel with the airplane super glued to the dowel .Again, I think it looks neat .Sorry I can not post a picture .Art

HO / Re: HO American Flag /Pole
June 28, 2013, 01:17:39 PM
Thanks for all the ideas . After following the advise of Roget T and Cowman I now have three HO American flags and poles .Got them from the Stewart Products website ( tomarindustries.com ) Very reasonable ,$8.45 plus $4.00 shipping .They look nice and come in a kit .I followed the instructions and used common sense and got them together .The rope ( thread ) was the most difficult .A touch of glue helped with the thread .The base is metal, had a starter hole but a hole had to be drilled all the way through with a # 51 drill .
Now I got some flags . Again, THANKS one and all . Art

HO / Re: General Wheel Cleaning
June 08, 2013, 01:38:42 PM
Thanks one and all for all the comments .However , the comments have gone more or less to general track cleaning. My original comment was directed to solving the problem of cleaning the wheels on a Bachmann Spectrum Peter Witt street car .The car is extra low to the rails which makes cleaning the wheels difficult .DCC seems to create dirt quicker than on DC .My posts regarding this is what I continue doing . Enjoy the hobby ! Art

Roger  ,Do the wheels just run over the Rail Zip coated rails one time ? Or,do you let the wheels go back and forth over it .I have a bottle of Rail Zip .Used it once but did not like the results .If you can share more information I would appreciate it . Thanks ! Art
