Anyone know where I can get replacement gears for my Climax Large Scale Locomotive? The power trucks work fine but the gears are worn down especially the worm gear connected to the drive rod leading into the power truck. Metal gears preferred but any gears are acceptable.

So, the parts are not available from Bachmann? What did the parts department say to your request?

They told me to come here. I'm going around in circles the only other option I can think of is 3D printing but I don't know anyone who can make them and ship them to me.

So, they don't have the part, and I would guess not to get it.

(except for some really high volume replacement parts, Kader only make parts at the same time as a production run. I'm pretty sure the climax is not on even the horizon)

I might have a line on some parts.

First, do you have the 1st or the 2nd version? 2nd version has the "socket"..

Info for all owners of the Climax.  Although the power trucks are not available,  There are 53 other parts that are available.  These include the driveshafts and yokes as well as detail parts.  I have stocked up on the parts critical to operating the Climax, because once they are gone their gone.  I recommend that all Climax owners do the same.

Jiro Yeramian makes gears for us in Delrin. I don't know if he has done the Climax yet, but you can ask.  [email protected]

OK, some more information.... then I'll wait for more info from the OP:

quite often, the failure mentioned is by one or both of 2 things:

1. never lubricating this driveshaft and gear (requires removal of the bottom truck cover)
2. reinstalling the cover the wrong way... there is a saddle in the cover on one end... that keeps the afore-mentioned driveshaft and gear in mesh... put it in backwards and you quickly destroy the gears.

So, this is a warning once you get it repaired, so it does not happen again.

I have a line on the parts, but I need a lot more information as there were various revisions in parts over the years.

I'm posting online to help others, but at some point this needs to be taken to email.

I believe the locomotive is a first generation since I had to replace the rear drivehaft with the updated part bachmann made to fix the truck power issue. I do not have a manual since the engine was bought second hand but I could share an image if the part in question if you need it.
