I Got my hands on a Bachman 38 ton shay (later remake of the 36 ton) ... installing ESU Loksound 5XL. I need a speaker , it will be operated outdoor so I like something a bit beefy ... the tender seems to have ample space .... what do you  recommend ? thanks

Hi, You could go to Amazon and search for "hobby speaker" lots of offerings there.

Look at Visaton speakers... parts-express.com has them.

Lots of options with good bass in a small speaker, also there are weatherproof options.

find the size you need, and then select the one with the best bass... fit the largest you can get obviously
