Coupler change on big boy coal car

I have an older Bachmann Big Boy with a strange looking claw coupler box on the coal car and cannot figure out how to replace it with a #5 Kaydee coupler. 

Any ideas?

On all of the Bachmann steam locos I have the coupler box/lid is just held on with a single screw.
