Are you wanting to make stuff for train sim's? Or are you just wanting to draw these models?

Dusten...I want to use CAD to design a layout  and structures  for an On30  layout.

Hmmm...Cad you say?  I use a pencil and graph paper LOL!

I think the programs available are all about the same but if you can run Cadrail I expect it will do just fine for you.  Remember though, maps are not reality.  I have found that no matter how well planned out, how well drawn (by hand or computer) there is always a glitch somewhere or a "oh, I never thought of that" moment when reality hits the pike!

I have been using CADRail for a number of years.  You can find more information at:

http://sandiasoftware.com/

The HO Scale club. AMRE, part of TTM, where I am a member of the large scale club, also uses it.

It has library's of standard track items, and if they do not have what you want you can create your own.  I has a 'Run Rail' that allows you to 'test drive' you layout to see if it is what you want.

You can print out your plan in various sizes, I have a printer that will print on paper up to 13 x 19, but use 11 x 17 most of the time.  I use a different color of track for each main line and yard area.

It will do '3D' to allow you to look at the layout also.

Also try www.turbosquid.com. This is where I got my 3D-GMax.
