My Shay has split all of the bevel gears on the driveshafts.  I replaced them with N.W.S.L. Steel gears and all went well.  The engine ran fine.  Now, some time later, the engine (Motor) runs, but the drive shafts make no attempt to turn.  I can hear the motor running, and it makes a clicking noise, as if the gears have come out of mesh.  I know I must send it to Bachmann for repairs, my question is, should I remove the gears and the Soundtraxx PNP decoder and speaker, before sending it in?  If the will repair this one, I don't want remove all that stuff, but if they are going to toss it, and send my a new one, I don't want to loose all that.  Gears cost about $25.00 and the decoder and speaker was around a $100.00 so I'm sure you can see my concern.
Thanks for any help.

Mike,
From all I've read here, it gets tossed.   They don't repair-too costly in man hours.   So you need to remove your stuff.

Dear Mike,
Contact the service department before you send it in. They'll let you know the best way to proceed.
Thanks!
