RS-3 for repainting

I would like to buy an RS-3 body shell and re-paint  it for a favorite road.

Do the handrails and window/glass inserts pop out easily to strip and repaint the engine or is a chore to remove them because of heavy gluing at the factory?

Thanks,

Barry

Don't know about the handrails.....but the windows of my RS-3 are almost TOO easy to take out!!
My fumbling fingers found this out less than 15 minutes after un-boxing it new....Seriously, I just TOUCHED the "glass" and it popped out!
Easy enough to replace (with glue this time....!!;))....as for the handrails....some manufacturers use adhesive -- others just "friction-fit" these parts....
Good luck!

May your freight ALWAYS roll smoothly...and ON TIME!!

What type of paint stripper are you using? Put the shell in a freezer bag and then into the freezer for 24 hours. This some times weakens the glue. The side hand rails usually come off easier then the end rails.    Joe

Thanks, much for the information. It's most appreciated.

I now use paint remover form Scale Coat. Some use  Isopropyl Alcohol as well.  Joe

I use 99% Isopropanol (Isopropyl Alcohol).

Easily available in drug stores.

Strips paint over night without harming plastics.

I use 91% with success.
Have never seen 99% here in drug stores on my part of the states.
Would grain alcohol work?

I would stick with the 91% Isopropanol if I were you.

Super Clean works quite well. A lot of automotive modellers use it......call it "swimming in the purple lake" ;D

Thank you Sid.
The Super Clean I can get access to; the 99% I can't seem to.
Any thought on the grain alcohol? :D

How come?

Never mind, Sid said Super Clean is safe and if Sid says it's safe, then it is.  :)
