I recall at one point (around when the "new" Knapford Station got canceled) that IF they were able to determine the costs of making the product was feasible or not, especially down to being able to reuse components like the chassis from Gordon/Spencer for example, they'd promise to announce AFTER everything was finalized and set in stone. To hear them be uncertain about the future of a character we've been looking forward to seeing feels like a betrayal IF it ends up being a Duncan 2.0 situation.

Idk, we'll see how it goes.... If anything, if this announcement is great news that he isn't cancelled and during December, well then it'll be a Christmas miracle lol

It sounds like Flying Scotsman may be delayed. Not cancelled.

But there's still a chance it's good news. He can't be cancelled when he's already that far into production, given his face sample. We're forced to wait until after Halloween before Matt finally spills the beans. He wanted to avoid rumors and speculation, but did the exact opposite. That ended up making some of us fear that Flying Scotsman was cancelled. It would be a big betrayal if it's true.

Signs are pointing that he isn't cancelled, since Duncan was delisted from Trainworld before the unfortunate announcement was made, while Flying Scotsman is still up.
My wishlist for HO Scale: Stepney, BoCo, Fernando, Norman, Den, Dart, Porter, Samson, Timothy, Whiff, Hiro, Harvey, Splatter and Dodge.
My wishlist for N Scale: Edward, Spencer, Flying Scotsman, Duck, Oliver, Donald and Douglas, Mavis, Sidney, Mainland Diesel, 'Arry and Bert.

This might be a stupid question, but did we ever find out how far in production Duncan got before being cancelled?

Far enough to get cost estimates and preorders up, but not soon enough anything was shown. This doesn't necessarily mean work wasn't done however. Nor is it impossible for projects with prototypes to be cancelled, it happens plenty of times with toys and model trains. Even though I don't particularly think that is what is happening here. One more week, and we should have our answer.

Dude, he was streaming live, and wasn't even the one who brought it up. It aint that deep. Just be patient.
Fantasising of Bachmann Hiro, Harvey, Diesel 10, Whiff, Rocky, The Works Unit Coach, and Large Scale Edward.

We're just under a week away from the final Trainworld stream for this year. Less than a week before Matt finally gives us the big reveal; the Flying Scotsman update, but there's no telling if it's good or bad.

Yeah leaving us in limbo for so long is wild I think it should have been addressed as soon as they could .
We should get an update this week .

Joecool

honestly it would be a huuge shame if Flying Scotsman were to be cancelled.

I'd definitely prefer it if they instead announced that he will be delayed or cost a bit more at least.

TrainFan97

We don't have to wait much longer. The final Trainworld stream for this year is tomorrow. Flying Scotsman is still up on Trainworld. Matt is finally going to reveal the update tomorrow. Bracing myself, since we don't know if the news is good or bad. If Flying Scotsman is not delisted from Trainworld before then, there's still hope. There haven't been reports of preorders being cancelled like there were for Duncan, just before his cancellation was announced.

My prediction is that they are going to make Flying Scotsman's second tender be a separate product.

Per the trainworld stream they made it clear that it has hit issues and they aren't quite sure what is happening with it at the current juncture. Should have better updates later. I assume it's some combo of cost estimates and NMRA/Hornby scotsman liscence issues they didn't account for initially if I were to speculate but a more clear answer will come at a later date

So the rumors that Flying Scotsman is cancelled can be safely put to bed, as it has been announced that he is delayed. The vibe was that Matt wasn't prepared to talk about it at the time last month. The model itself isn't the problem, but a long story they can't go into detail. It may be license issues they didn't take into account when the model was first announced.

They did have a face sample, but it may be a while before we see a proper unpainted sample of the model. They're hoping to show him sometime in 2027 and have him out around this time next year, or at a stretch, early 2028.
